Another decent episode.

Dem tensions:

I just love the atmosphere of this show still with the Spring backgrounds and realism. Seems like Hachiken is still afraid of horses though XD

LOL@cute piggies. Didn't know about their behavior. It was informative as always. That horse race was interesting: they were so slow, but it was exciting thanks to the good execution. That sad fact about those losers was a bit shocking. OMG@the paradoxical qualification for vet. Never imagined it. Time flew when watching the episode.

It was enjoyable.

I love the motifs that Arakawa has put into the series. If her writing was akin to one of the piglets this episode, it would easily be in the top 3

The Ban'ei race was really fun to watch, never seen one before and this really did pique my interest.
Sad to hear the horses' fate, and also the pigs. I guess this is where ethics comes into play, and the 'not so nice' part of nature. :/
Many laughs this episode, wondering what Hachikens' Middle school homeroom teacher was telling the principle.

Nice episode.

Lol'd so much at Tamako and Buddha sensei in gambling mode XD
And how she won XD

The race was intense. Pretty nice execution there :)

The argument between Komaba and Hachicken was good for character development...and foreshadowing for quite a few stuff. Well anyone who read the manga would know what I mean.

And at the end...a new friendship between Hachiken and Porkbowl has began XD

The horse racing was really intense, but it also made Hachiken and Komaba argue about winning and having a easy life. Hachiken definitely oversimplified things, not taking into account about how difficult it is to manage a farm, and even the possibility of farms not being able to survive. But of course, Hachiken's also has had his troubles, that's why instead of going to some other normal high school, he's at a agricultural school. Good thing they made up with each other in the end though. And Pork Bowl, such a cute piggy.

Nice slow episode. I think I'm enjoying this more because this setting of agricultural school is so specific and hasn't really been done before (at least not seen by me). Different way of thinking in this anime I guess
-Nothing can stay unchanged. Even so, can you still keep on loving this place?

-Be still my soul; when change and tears are past, all safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

I like that this show can be serious and dramatic sometimes, and it works, and other times light hearted and funny, and it also works. That's a rare quality

I find it kind of sad that the thrid place (who was first for most of the race) horse has time to lie down and then stop during a race.

Solid episode. It was a bit of a slow one. The comedy part was a bit lacking and parts of it felt like an information dump on farming. Loved the atmosphere of the episode though and it was nice to get a view into Hachiken's past.

Piglet's nature

once they chosen a place, it doesn't matter if there are better ones or not. they'll stay right where they are.

after they choose positions after intial fight, they will settle and never again aim for anything better.

Don't you do the same.

I don't like that they're rushing through the chapters - I mean it's always been at a fast pace but it was more noticeable this week - but I guess it can't be helped when you only have so many episodes to adapt the manga. Being a noitaminA anime is both a blessing and a curse.

Still, it wasn't enough to ruin the enjoyment of the episode and from the looks of it people aren't sensing a rushed pace. If anime-only viewers are fine with it, then I guess I will be okay with the pacing too. It really is a solid adaptation, other than the music that is...

wow that's interesting to hear that this is actually rushed compared to the manga. As I really felt that this episode was slow.

Now that I think about it though a lot of stuff did happen and the episode was kinda all over the place so that explains it a little bit. But I guess since they didn't focus on anything it felt kinda slow

I really liked this episode, hearing about the fates of the pigs and the horses really made me feel sad, but it really relates to just how reality, and that if you want to reach your dreams, you have to cope with the struggles of reality. I'm also glad that Hachiken made friends with Pork Bowl :)

I wonder what that home room teacher from the old school was telling the principal, guess we'll find out next week

Maybe he sent him to the wrong school or something? and then Hachiken is gonna have to decide if he wants to stay.

I was afraid that it felt harsh to show the fact that the animals will be killed but it felt really natural. The next time I have bacon for breakfast I won't feel sorry for the piglet, I'll just think "Thank you for dying for me"

Also, great quote "Having a dream requires having the resolve to struggle with reality"

I came with very low expectations of this anime.... I thought to myself, there's no way an agricultural anime would be so entertaining....wow I was wrong.
This series is really good, with all the light hearted moments and it's realistic. I especially liked seeing the protagonist struggle with stuff he normally doesn't care for.
Poor Porkbowl :(

Wow, this episode has more deep themes compared to the first two... and some agricultural lessons for pigs and horses!

Hahaha. I thought we would get the pork bowl for food this episode since that is the title, but its for the pig's name! Hahaha.

Y'know, I never really considered the resolve it takes to be a vet or even just working in agriculture... I found the discussion quite interesting. Not just that too, I guess the whole episode offered a little bit more with regards to the reality of the lives of animals in the industry. Poor Porky Bowl.

But anyway, as usual, it was very funny episode - especially that "Welcome to welcome land" part lol.
