| For some reason I don't like family abuse on either manga or anime. It's rather interesting that the cat did come back to life. I wonder how it will turn out from here. |

| I wasn't sure what to expect when I dove into the manga of what quickly became my favorite anime (well, I still expect to love it, so I guess that's bullshit, eh?) but I didn't expect the build up to be so comparatively fast. Things are happening quickly, much moreso than they did in the anime - I didn't realize that they stretched out 2 chapters into 2 or 3 episodes, even though I know the anime only covered a fraction of the whole story. Given the thing I love about Sankarea the most was the vibe and atmosphere, I really do think it works better as a slow burn moreso than anything and so far I actually think the anime is beating out the manga in terms of what was adapted so far. Which I can say in confidence, given how I would be almost 1/3 of the way finished with the anime after only two chapters of the manga. Oh well. I'm definitely going to keep reading. I really want to see what happens and where they go. Sankarea has become special to me and I have to see how it ends. Kind of a bummer, but at the same time as somebody who saw the anime I guess I can appreciate the clearer faster pace the manga has early on so I can get to what's new without skipping out on anything. And outside of the unexpectedly breakneck pacing in outright contrast to the slower nature of the anime, everything else is the Sankarea I love, so it's minor, all things considered. Kind of shocking almost, though. |
