So, this is the first time I've seen an anime gettiing an second season close upon the first time it aired. Season 1 airs winter 2012, but season 2 airs already in the summer 2012?

Is this actually correct? They just skip spring. Why not do a double season instead?

Fate Zero did the same.

The World Only God Knows somewhat did it as well, the second season was announced around the first couple episodes IIRC.

This isn't a second season but a split cour, 2 cours (1 cour each every other season)

@Hoppy: Then it's the same as a double season (24 episode)?

Still don't get it why they want to skip spring and make it 2 cours..

i think it's good thing,
more anime should follow this example and get sequel sooner. Who the hell can remember what happened few years back when there's no time for re-watching and "to be continue" endings are irritating too :P
( Currently interested in OP MC genre. Recommendations are welcomed, preferable those yet not on my list )

Meh, I'm both glad and mad about this. Glad because we'll get to see more of this (so far) great series, but mad because I don't understand why they don't just air them back to back.

Anyway, more Madoka! \(>w< )/

It's to give them more time to work on the show probably, as well as to milk out sales over a longer period of time.

Furthermore, next season they'd be competing with some big name shows (including fate/zero and crucially the new eureka seven) so by pushing it until spring they may be in a more favourable season and get more viewers.

Another possible reason is that it allows them to create effectively two finale episodes, one for the end of s1 and another for s2, another reason why they can generate more viewers.

I think it's fucking great, we don't have to wait. I think they just want to have a little pause in between and that's it. I think we should be happy about this.
idk why I was here but I'm prob back to playing Hunt: Showdown 1896 again when you read this

Airing them back to back will make the quality drop badly. I think this plan is brilliant.
I read Manga in both English and Chinese.

Despite the show being kinda okayish, the animation has been of top notch so far. So I don't see why they won't take a break. This isn't the first time.

Kami nomi had split seasons. Natsume San and Shi are 1Q apart and so will be Kimi to Boku 2 from its first season, as well as F/Z 2. More like this is becoming a new trend. And I find it absolutely okay.

At least it's better than its counterpart (Symphogear) and most of the other shit that came out this season.

I don't really care about when a season's coming out unless it takes years to do it. They all take months in between, anyways.
Come see me bitch about bad anime and squee over KyoAni at infinityandone.blogspot.com

This is actually becoming somewhat of a trend now.

Nobody mentioned Phi Brain (a shame, because it is a good show) which is getting a 2nd season that starts immediately after this one ends. No idea why they bother calling it a second season, but I am excited for it nonetheless. For a show about puzzles to have a more coherent and enjoyable story than most dramas this season is impressive.
