THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

A very interesting beginning. I have never liked these kind of fantasy/sci-fi mixtures, but I think this time I'll give it a try, since it's just 11 episodes long. The OP and ED song is not that bad. Hope the story will not be only about the boy becoming the Beast King.

It isnt. It manages to cram in a whole bunch of stuff for 11 episodes which some may like and others wont. Either way lotsa people gonna die and stuff, yay for gravitas!

I like the OP tune for some reason, but dont think it suits the story. Love the character design, but only the adults.

Strong opening episode. The art, animation and music are great. Plus Thor/Rei's VA did a good job in making the twins sound unique, while going through such varied emotions and predicaments. Though it's a little scary how quickly Thor has been able to adapt to the situation. :S

Was a little thrown by the OP, since it didn't fit with the picture I had from reading the synopsis, but its good. Same for the ED.

I'm currently watching Casshern Sins I half thought the Wild Children might start saying 'Casshern kurose' :P

Wow. This is a very cool way to began an anime.
I was sad Rai died. I mean, in the first episode!?
Hopefully, he'll come back.

This looks like an anime I am going to watch.

Wow so much in just one episode? The story sounds intriguing enough. Very unique.

Its a very good episode, just thinking of it makes me want to rewatch the series, and it gets so much better. Thinking over it in 11 episodes they change a lot more locations and the characters develop and change a lot more than many full season series and even some that are longer.

Hey, that was pretty damn cool :O My initial reaction to the OP was x__X, but it's actually ok, it's just that it doesn't really match the type of this anime, I think...however, the ED was very good. Rai was indeed annoying, and Zagi was right when he told Thor what he did, but still - you don't kill you own brother just because he's weaker than you. Nevertheless, I'm glad he's out of the picture :P Although it's probably just temporary, as usual with the Never Found the Body trope.

Watching this because it's Noitamina. I can't say I liked the first episode too much.

The main character is a bit of douchebag, isn't he? I mean, wanting to kill off your own brother just because he thinks he's a burden? Okay, I guess that's one way to make an unlikable main character.

Ha ha ha, what an annoying brother! Still, the thought of killing his sibling was a little too quick: weak ties? plot cramming?

Kind of classical premisses, but a really energetic feel. I want to see more right now.

Anyone else find the brother's demise a little anti climatic (at least I'm assuming he's dead)? I mean I guess I expected it to be a little more sudden and dramatic than the slow swallowed by a plant death.

The quick pacing didn't bother me with the exception of Thor's decision to take out his brother. Even if he did change his mind at the last minute and his brother was an annoying weakling, it was unbelievably fast. None the less, I'm very interested to see where this goes.

I doubt Rai is dead, considering how anti-climatic the death was compared to all the scenes where his brother resolved to save him.

Seems promising.

Holy smokes, this is quite a catch. I wasn't really sure about it at first, but the survival of the fittest on a massive carnivorous plant planet has my attention. I love when Thor sweet talked the guy into stabbing him, he's already thinking outside of the box to survive.

What, I was expecting something completely different. The OP/ED are really nice, designs are appealing (except the twins), and the animation is actually pretty high quality. The beginning threw me off since I was expecting more fantasy, but that quickly changed. And the MC is tough, damn. Took down like 5 guys just like that?

I feel like a lot has been glossed over, but that might be due to just how they decided to adapt it. The transitions feel like it would in a manga (and the original material is pretty short?)

This has been on my PTW for years and I feel like I should've started it earlier. Might be a real gem. O_O
Srsly that OP though. It's so catchy.

Love the music in this show, animation is strong for an early 2000s series. Studio Bones is going to give us yet another beautifully crafted world and story. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

That OP is... truly fascinating. I haven't heard an OP like this

I haven't seen many of the recs for this show, but I found their MAL pages interesting as well (mainly the different planet mysteries that have a serious story). I could also relate aspects of it to many of my best shows. This may even be a masterpiece in my books if it doesn't mess up.
Also, it's been forever since I've seen proper worldbuilding.

A really interesting story indeed, the OP is really unique, I love the art-style, Rai is really a burden for Thor but him thinking of killing hi own twin is really too fast, also them getting kidnapped and sent to a plant that likely looks like the earth in the future ( based on the documentary they watched earlier ) immediately after Thor said he wanted to go see earth is really a lot for a coincidence, considering all that I'm intrigued to see what happens next and I believe Rai didn't die, so he's still gonna slow Thor on his quest to become the beast king LOL.

Rewatching this show for the first time in years, and it really is a great first episode. Although it does have exposition, unlike most anime it doesn't slam the breaks on the story, the world-building is pretty efficient and compelling. I'd love to see a live action version of this.
