Till now it has stayed as surprisingly emotional show, although not enough to make me come close to crying. I wish Kaoru proposed leaving her family and took the initiative, but i sort of expected this. What will Miyabi say when see comes back to his door X.x

I'm wondering what they'll do with Miyabi and Aoi's family. I really don't think they'll just let her leave the family and live with him so easily. I'm guessing in the end they'll get Miyabi to their side (perhaps not in the next episode, but at some point), but the family will not be happy at all. Also, what does Kaoru think of this, we didn't get his answer. He likes the girl, sure, but it's still very sudden, he basically just met her and is now asked to marry her, just like that, and at such a young age. And about him asking for Aoi to leave her family... I don't think he would dare to ask for that. I know I wouldn't. Way too much to ask.

Quick thoughts, why doesn't Miyabi stay out of their business? Kaoru puts up with a lot of grief, and I like the build up showing what Aoi would do.

Wow...she actually went there. I thought there'd be a lot more hemming and hawing about cutting ties with the clan.

I actually kinda hope that doesn't stick; since we don't have any real idea what they're like, I prefer to assume "decent folks, just old-fashioned", so for now I'd rather they not get the short end if it can be avoided. The Hanabishi can go fuck themselves, tho, or at least the old man can.

I'm predicting Miyabi will be inwardly somewhere between "uncertain" and "sympathetic" toward Aoi's situation, but won't show it for a while because she's Got a Job to Do(tm); then closer to the end she'll turn intransigent and subversive in Aoi's favour and/or actively lobby the Sakuraba to accept Kaoru anyway. Could turn out to be a stubborn "company woman" who needs a fourth (fifth?) party to convince her, but hopefully she'll turn out to be a little more complex than that. Either way, she's probably furious Aoi ditched her unless she's even more sympathetic than I'm hoping.

Holy cow, Aoi's already got the mom mentality going. o.o Personally I think they drove that home a little too hard between how she comforted Kaoru, his flashback, and the random scene on the street - IMO you really only need one or maybe two of those; all three is a little hamhanded.
"Ō-sama...kindly shut up. I wouldn't normally do this, but we are working with them whether you like it or not, because otherwise our chances of success approach zero." - Stern the Destructor (maybe not a direct translation, but it gets the point across)

That old man is getting his ass beat by me. Kaoru didn't deserve to be abused like that. I am happy that Aoi has decided to be with him. To leave her family name for him, the man she adores. I cannot think of a better love. This tell me that she truthfully deep down in her heart has always loved him and that she will continued to be at his side, come what May. The red string of fate has been tied to these two. And I do not see it being cut.

felt really slow but actually a lot happened. i understand that they are under a lot of social pressure and have to save face and consider lineage, so i get it. but at the end of the day she's an adult so she can make her own decisions.

probably the most packed episode yet.
i guess sooner or later Miyabi will become supportive of Aoi, since she doesn't want to see her suffer (they were together for lots of years so she must like her somewhat, RIGHT?)

Things are starting to heat up! But I expected the series to become more serious and for reality to set in. I think the writers wanted Aoi to be the main heroine because she started this whole thing off passionately by seeking 薫様 (Kaoru-sama). So I think it is fitting that her expression of love ends with her asking Kaoru to accept her proposal under her sacrifice of her denouncing her family's name and cutting those ties. She expressed her feelings completely and true love is that important. 10/10 Because it seems they would make a perfect couple from this episode going forward!
