On the verge of getting eaten, Polnareff started seeing two but one of was actually his long lost friend making an unexpected and dramatic comeback. Avdol sure is badass.

Tsk tsk, YES I AM!

I can fully disclose myself now. Having seen memes of Abdul after his supposed death such as this very one: “YES I AM!” made it so I doubted Abdul’s death from the scene it happened. But then I thought about how Abdul dying would only make the story better. It made the cast smaller so that they would be better explored, it bonded characters through hardship; something great for bro squads just like it was for Jonathan and Speedwagon. It also served as a message that any time a villain is established before the arc they are introduced, they can kill the heroes! Therefore, I thought it would only be harmful to revive him and after so much time had passed, I genuinely started to believe he was gone. When the notion of reviving Abdul came up, I thought that this may be where he gets revived while not playing the audience for a fool. Rather, that didn’t happen. Instead, it looked like Kakyoin checked Abdul’s pulse to me, and Jotaro and Joseph said they buried Abdul. Unless I misinterpreted Kakyoin’s scene, or Joseph and Jotaro lied or buried him alive, it adds some confusion. We also have to ask why he is here?

Admittedly, Jojo isn’t the type to nihilistically kill off characters and we all knew characters would die in Jojo, so ultimately, killing Abdul wasn’t that huge of a plot twist. I mean, it was in the moment, but we already knew that the major villains of this part will likely kill our protagonists, it didn’t add that much. Therefore, Abdul secretly living doesn’t change much except for diminishing the potential for a Jojo part to kill its characters out of left field. It only hurts a little because I don’t think Abdul adds that much to the story and if anything, he only hurt it early on, and his death being so unique for Jojo; so brutal, quick, and powerful, is now weakened. That and, it takes away from Polnareff's burden and I honestly digged that. “For him to die before my eyes… this is so goddamn annoying!”

That said, I’ll stay open minded, I’m not happy about this, but I don’t have all the information yet. Further, with the hero squad now being explored and better characterized, reintroducing Abdul allows for him to get his time to shine as a character. He is a unique archetype for the gang and holds the most information on stands. One thing is for sure though, Hol Horse did not kill a protagonist so therefore he can ultimately befriend him!!!! So, maybe this is good after all.

As for Cameo the genie, seeing the corpses were actually made of clay or something akin to that, I wonder if the desires of Polnareff were taken from him to materialize fakes. If so the gold may not be gold after all!

Avdol coming back just doesn't sit right with me. It just doesn't make sense why they would bury him if he was actually alive. I know that fans were outraged by his death at the time it happened. But bringing him back just creates a big plot hole considering the circumstances surrounding his death. It's just way too convenient how the bullet just grazed him. It's akin to how Joseph got gravely injured or nearly killed in Part 2 as a part of his "plan."
