| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- I found this episode to be more intuitive and less weird than the previous three. In the gym, I see that "Mobuko-san" is back, along with two of her sisters. As I recall, Mobuko was in 3rd year last year. So apparently she was also miraculously transported back in time. Or perhaps she was held back. I liked the fact that they could hold their paintings in their hands. This is a fairly undramatic usage of the 3D animation, but it is a good illustration of the capability of the 3DCG technique for characters to interact with movable rigid 3D objects. Given the level of their artistic skills, changing their club into an art club doesn't seem to be a good idea. |
| The art club discussion made me miss Sketchbook. I think that manga is still ongoing, might pick it back up later. Anyway, I really loved how the ad lib session turned out this time. Hiina tried to encroach on Aoi's territory by making a lame pun on 描く (to draw) and 欠く (to lack), both pronounced "kaku". When trying to explain it she used an alternative reading of the kanji 欠, "ketsu", which also happens to sound like a word meaning "butt". Of course, the others rolled with it. It was funny seeing Hiina, normally the most cool-headed one, get increasingly annoyed and exasperated by all the teasing. Funniest episode of this season so far. |
| Hina's lyrics before the opening proper were fucking brutal. Talk about hitting close to home. |
| I also find it funny Aoi and Yua tries to make sense of Hina's pun by slapping their butt upon hearing another reading for 欠. Just how complicated can Japanese puns be? Interesting too there's a tweak on the ED |
