THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- The girl, who never into The World, seeing everyone including her male friends, are playing, even his grandpa, as pirate?!! FMD is important glasses for playing The World, and she got somehow invited to play it. Though she doesn't know how to control it. Then seeing that woman and blackness. The woman gave her something. The soldiers protected and sealed the blackness. It attracted US gov. curious. She learned to play, and at the same time the problems (funny and serious) happens (including avatar mix up, confession, and megane guy being unconscious). The US gov. person was sent (lol @ Kansai dialect). The woman and the girl wavelength = same so it was given to protect her. Blackness (virus) went out of control, and it affects the real world internet. Black box is the source of blackness? But the black clouds were the virus itself and has those victims including the woman. Meanwhile, the remaining male friend is calling everyone to help out, but only the girl can save the world. So the part inside her is enough for the woman to become from girl to woman. The light purified the blackness, and internet and victims are back to normal. He finally confessed to her, and she finally understood who is who... The movie shows the seriousness of the virus affecting real world, comparing to other .hack works. Voices are weird as always. |

The voice actor is weird but the CGs is well done, why can't we have this game in reality? It would be amazing. It does end suprisely fast. |

My copy finally arrived yesterday. My thoughts about it (slight spoilers): First, the bad points. - Some backgrounds looked completely static despite others being amazingly detailed - Kite-Soras facial expression... All characters save for the protagonist (only inside the World!) looked great :/ Which is kind of sad... - The plot wasn't all that great. But! The good points. - The plot /approach/ was nicely done. It focused on their real life and also the relationship between the characters. I was positively surprised to see the other supporting characters getting even more screentime than Gondo and Balder XD It's hard to come up with a .hack-like plot that's not completely the same as the ones before. In this regard, I think it was well done. Loved the misunderstanding of the confession... Even though it's kinda harsh for Tomohiko 8D - THE MUSIC. So much LIeN love <3 (+ Kokia ED °w°) - The general art. It looks nothing like Trilogy but it's really pretty in its own way. - .hack players don't look as creepy and obsessed like they did in Online Jack, haha... - David 8D lol "Gesundheit!" Neutral. - Voices. When I first heard Sora I wasn't too sure what to think of her voice. After watching, well, I noticed... The trailer showed only the weird scenes. There hardly were any other scenes in which I thought it sounded /too/ strange. Still, those could have been better. But I loved Tanaka's voice 8D And I got to hear Hiyama. So, giving a 9/10. It was better than I expected it to be :3 Gotta watch the bonus content of the second disc later and play some more Versus o/ |

I dislike 3D CGI characters cuz they overuse body movement language and walking with arms apart looks horrible(-ly unrealistic) but thats all personal. The story was okay, average, somewhat a typical .hack plot. The music was pretty good, good enough for me to try and search for the songs from LieN. |

Has anyone seen the included OVA? I am interested in this one as well. Hope someone will sub those (movie and OVA) once. Atleast the movie should even have some chance to get an US release, or atleast I hope so. |

This movie was great! I liked the animation within the world and not the animation in the real world. |

lol typical .hack plot...not bad but nothing interesting. why don't they try something else for a change? I bet their new secret game will have this very same typical plot...again. That aside, the graphic are very well done. You just have to get use to the 3D character model and The World is so freaking awesome. |

It was not that amazing, It reminded me of the Movie Summer Wars which was a better movie in my opinion. Did not feel like something that belonged in the .Hack series, kind of like .hack//Quantum. Ending was good, made me smile but it could of been better. Animation was AMAZING! Reminded me of Kingdom Hearts, If they keep up this kind of 3D animation in future series I will defiantly watch it. |

Atleast the movie should even have some chance to get an US release, or atleast I hope so. I have the special edition box set and apart from two earlier prototype movies I don't recall anything I'd call "OVA". Those were interesting to see, but... well, like trailer of some sorts. The first had different main characters than the final product but the art was similar. It was really short - I think 3min at max - and had no voice acting. The second had the movie's cast. But everything in real life was anime-style instead of CG (ingame was CG, but slightly different in design and animation). It included voice-acting. I personally think the main character's seiyuu did a better job for the screaming part in this one, sadly. Other stuff the bonus disc included was footage from the .hack//Live event (I didn't even know .hack had this kind of thing, shame on me...). Similar to the live skits from Tales of Festivals, but different in content, as they didn't try to avoid game spoilers (the first skit was like a short sequel to .hack//Link even). Those were really awesome in my opinion but I guess not of interest for people who don't know the games or don't care for seiyuu. |

This movie was definitely better than I thought it would be. It was kind of a step down from Quantum, but on its own, it was pulled off well. The movie Gladius is talking about is the Thanatos Report OVA, which I believe is unlocked by completing Versus. It's about David some time after the movie. See at 1:58 here [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch/?feature=player_embedded&v=b2pL-4cv-z4[/url] I'm also looking for that. I found a youtube video of the raw of it at one point, but I can't get to it again. |

Ah, that one. I haven't finished Versus, so I didn't watch it either yet. But I've heard of it. I won't watch it online, but I can at least provide a link to the raw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qlMxngBPJOI&feature=plcp So it's about David? I seriously should finish Versus. |

Poor Tomohiko..being rejected because of that terrible misunderstanding. And poor Aura.. good god..it's always being left on her shoulders in the end. Gotta wonder what goes on in that artificial head of hers sometimes. |

Isayama Hajime should be awarded The Manga with The Highest Inconsistencies of Characters' Appearances. He keeps performing multiple plastic surgeries on those Shingeki No Kyojin characters in a SINGLE chapter. Yes, I've read up to the latest chapter of Shingeki No Kyojin manga. Forced myself to read through the kidsketching chapters after the anime's ended. At least from now on, I only have to go through the hell once a month. Patiently awaiting SNK TV/movie/OVA anime-sequel. The 2015 SNK live-action movie would probably suck. |

ToushiFlow said: The animation and music were outstanding Totally agree. Gorgeous movie with stunning music. I really enjoyed the movie regardless if it didn't really do anything totally new in terms of the .hack story as they still did quite a nice job with the story and it was nicely paced especially since I got quite attached to the simple but likable characters in Sora and her two friends and ofcourse her grandfather, and David, as well as Sora's classmate friend (and the nostalgia of seeing Aura again too). Nice voice acting from all of them too. Definitely enjoyed watching Sora's development and getting attached to her. Most of the action was really good, the final battle was ok but perhaps could have been even better if everyone got to do a little more, though what was there was well done as Sora's part of it was very nicely done as was the cool airship stuff and allies gathering and working together. I had a lot of favorite parts so it's hard to choose but the training sequence that goes back and forth between "The World" and the real world where you can easily see Sora also becoming more lively as she starts to get more immersed in the game with her friends (and around the hub town) to that incredible, catchy vocal song was so freaking good. |

Got a major nostalgia rush. Kind of a throw back the first four games + SIGN where Aura has to evolve beyond her normal capcity by learning a bit of humanity. But I still wish, if they ever returned to the .hack// universe, they actually focused on a prequel. I really want to see an anime about the original lore of The World because I find it so incredibly fascinating, and maybe an actual story about Emma and Harold and the days of Fragment. |

Amazing CG, avarage to bad voice acting. Now, the plot. Compared to the other .hack titles, this one is pure crap. Sorry to say that but any other title is better scripted and directed than this thing. I mean, it is nice to see new stuff happening, the effects of the virus in the real world etc, but oh god it was so tiring.. |

I was seriously blown away of the amount of quality they put into modeling and texturing 'The World'. While the stylised 'real world' cgi wasn't bad it did bother me while the in game cgi was practically perfect game material cg! To know we pretty much are at this point in time that the technology for these kind of games with these kind of realism fidelity is within our grasps, and even more so once Unreal Engine 5 will be released! The story just as the ones before follow a pretty similar story telling, but this movie did had some more uniqueness to it as it wasn't just all in game but the combination of both which we only saw with the original's side story ova's. So yea for a movie from 2012 the cgi was top of the line and knowing that anno 2020 we could actually be able to recreate such worlds and render it in real time really makes it amazing. A VRMMORPG like this really would be absolutely amazing (of course without all the comma's and such) but the whole concept of dot hack and 'The World' is just amazing and I do wonder if we'll ever see a next chapter as 'The World' can be at any time expanded and build upon and that's what I really enjoyed about this whole franchise. Got to give it to them to create this movie, 8 years later it almost looks like current generation graphics but when it came out it would have probably been even more mind blowing as it already was. All in all a wonderful and beautiful movie I must say! |

Show Rate Meter Guide - (5 Great _ 4 Good _ 3 Fine _ 2 Not Good _ 1 Bad).(dismal are sometimes needed) [Story] - 2.5 [Art/Animation] - 3.5 [Sound/Music] - 3 [M-Character] - 2.5 [S-Character] - 2.5 [Enjoyment] - 2.5 [Overall] - 2.5 The only good thing about this movie was the video game world with if good looking animation. The real world there in looks' bland and boring I dislike looking at it almost every time. The only thing they did in the game world was teaching her how to play the game and her running around to trying to get away form the black mist bug virus that kept attacking her. Then traveling to the island were Aura is to give her this ball of light to save, THE WORLD!!!. >:( WOW... The story was kind of boring and the character also with only the music and art were the good things about this movie. |
