| I thought it would be intereasting to find out what everyone thinks a "real" man would, say, think, do, dream of, etc. Basically, what do you think is essential for a person to be considered a "real" man? |

| First, to answer your question I want to know two things: One: Do you mean a "real" man as in anime or in real life? Two: Do you want an honest answer or a chauvanist pig answer? (I'm willing to give both.) |

| Okay, well here comes the response(s): Chauvinist Pig Answer: A real man is the kind of guy that won't take any shit for an answer. He's big on muscles and hair but doesn't nessecarily have to be big on brains. All the ladies fawn over him but he remains relatively cold and emotionless towards their advances. Generally he's got a big weapon or giant robot of some sort and he eats bears for breakfast. In one word: a badass. Real Answer: (Note: this may not go along with what the majority of the club believes but it is my own personal belief.) A real man is the kind of guy that walks softly and carries a big sitck. He is quiet but he can be forceful when needed. He takes criticism and he is willing to listen to other people. Pretty much, the all around guy you want to meet. one such person that pops into my head would be Morgan Freeman. Is that a good enough answer? |

As you get older you'll find the need for an intelligent conversation in a room full of idiots far outweighs the need for partying, and it's a better method of picking up women anyway. Women love to talk, so practice those conversation skills, especially the listening skills. Once you know more about her, then you can get high and get laid. | If I can still nominate real "real" men, I'd like to add Clive Owen and Jason Statham (Snatch and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels....god yes!). Not exactly excellent actors (although Children of Men is probably one of the best movies in the last 5 years), but I think I own all but one of their movies. As for anime, I think you guys pretty much got most of them down. I'd nominate Albedo, just because he can rip his own limbs off and still laugh about it. Certain things would probably bar him from being manly, though. If I can think of any more, I'll suggest them. |

| Fallen summed it up pretty well. (The "real" type that is, as hilarious as the chauvinist type may be.) Also, I agree with Nathan's concept of taking energy from yet being in control of one's emotions. However, I also believe there are times when it is not only acceptable but perhaps even honorable for a man to cry. A man who lives entirely for himself is a man who is not fulfilling his duties to the world and those who care about him. Even the greatest of men, therefore, will have a dependency, and thus a weakness. I would add honor to this, personally. Though honor can be subjective (what is honorable may depend on the situation), it is all the same a huge part of being a "real" man. Also, duty. Mostly what I've said above, but a "real" man is only somewhat independent. He must have a purpose he holds to be higher than himself. If he does not, then he has, in my opinion, given in to the weakness of selfishness. In addition, I feel that a "real" man is able to acknowledge and face his own weakness. There is no one who does not have "weakness" in some respect. To deny having weakness is to simply be dishonest with oneself. |

| Everyone has their own views on a real man. And many disagree with my view. I think a real man is a proud man. A man that knows how to build territories, and a man that fights for what he believes in, and wins. But if he loses then his stubborn side takes over and he does what it takes to win. (Without doing something shitty, like cheating and so on). A man in my opinion should also know how to handle the opposite sex. And last, a real man is like Morgan Freeman or Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction. |

I most honestly agree, a real man can take his fair due of shit knowing full well that if he doesn't deserve it from that person, he most definitely has earned it somewhere else, a person stronger than the most well placed temper tantrum. Someone strong enough to be far beyond the anger that most people release but powerful enough to protect his views while making anyone outside of which comfortable with their own. |
