THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
The animation is really appealing to me.

Giselle is too hard on herself >_<
She seems so depressed in this episode

Careless Fam and Giselle, being followed.
Should have known when only half of the enemy forces were attacking them

What is Tatiana going to do now?! =O

I'm liking this series more and more, the battle was really entertaining c: I had a little fangirl moment when Vincent was mentioned. I surely hope to see him! He was one of my favourites in the original series (well, I liked all of the characters, though).

Still neutral on the character and the story.

But, the production value is very high. And I don't know why, but I like the action scene more than the cyberpuck anime next door.

I agree. I like Giselle's character so I really don't like seeing her like that.

I was hoping for something more dramatic... like all the sky pirates dying. Maybe that'll finally shut that annoying Fam's mouth for a change.

Yeah Den-kun, the fleet action, music, atmosphere and all of it continuing into the cliffhanger leading to even more build up was so good.

Can't wait to see what Tatiana and the Silvius are going to do now!

Also excited we might meet those new pilots from the OP soon looking at the preview and more about the new country. And Vasant holds a lot of possibilities as does the new Guild-related thread.

Same here, aside from ep 5 being perhaps a bit too light, I think every episode has been building great.

Hope we see Vincent and he gets to play a big role as the show continues, it was awesome hearing his name come out.

Totally agree the animation has been such an awesome draw and incredibly inspired. Everything's stunning and the battle in the ice and incredible cloud work and airships was jaw dropping.

Yeah, I love the fleet actions and good to see the real dichotomy between the real Ades forces and the outlying nobles, it really outlines why the gray uniforms helped Fam and the others capture a few outdated ships from the low level nobles which got the attention of the real military.

Fam's also in the process of realizing this as well as evidenced by her reactions during the battle and her apology note to Atamora.

Hmm. Nothing like rooting for the killing of the Good Guys just cause you don't like the main character...

I don't see it that way. The presence of the other Sky Pirates was not something Fam and Gisey expected, or even wanted. The Ades ambush would have been easy for Fam and Gisey to get out of by themselves - the complication was the presence of the large group of Sky Pirates, their larger ships and their support docks. Had Fam and Gisey not stuck around the Sky Pirates would have been butchered. The fleet of Sky Pirates being ambushed and decimated not only was not Fam and Gisey's fault, but those that escaped would not have been able to without Fam's and Gisey's help.

Obviously this blunder and considerable loss of life on the part of the Sky Pirates had a chilling effect on Fam and Gisey, but since it wasn't their fault I don't see what that would have accomplished for those that see Fam's character as needing a smack down.

I'm of two opinions on Fam right now.

Right from the start I realized Fam was way to overconfident in herself and, assuming good story writing styles, I figured that would be sure to come back and bite her in a big way. However, I didn't see her as to annoying because she was good natured, willing to laugh at jokes at her expense and though she often waved her own flag she didn't rub her skills in other peoples' faces.

Besides, I expect teenagers to be all the things adults find annoying ;)

To me, she was a great 15 year old hot shot pilot, and I all but fell in love with her character.

However, I was appalled at her actions in episode 6 - that she would not only be willing, but was expecting, to put Millia up as the prize for a bet floored me. Gisey needs to share the blame for that as well - even if she didn't agree with the plan, inaction regarding something like that is no excuse.

I suspect her 'near run thing' with the race was why Fam decided just one more ship wasn't enough and wanted to capture all eight of the convoy they were targeting, though for the life of me I have no clue what they were planning just the two of them in their small vespa vanship. That little plot hole has left me with a bit of a sour taste in my mouth.

So, anyway, I'm VERY annoyed with Fam right now, but I'm certainly not wanting people to die just to get her to do some growing up.

This. It appears the silhouette in the OP behind Alvis was indeed Vincent Alzey.

Gisey is starting to act more and more like Lavie, which is refreshing because you wouldn't associate her composure with Lavie's rowdy behavior. Both of them never wanted to get involved in a war, but both Fam and Claus insist that they have to protect their cargo: Millia and Alvis.

Yeah, it was tough (and really successful in upping my investment in all the characters) seeing Gisey breaking down like that since I've really gotten to like her character, so ofcourse you don't want to see her reach that state, but it's great seeing her develop and push her voice, opinion, emotion and realism to how bad things were getting like Lavie given her usual composure.

Opening scene... Old temple ruins in an island of grand lake. A vanship in a starfish booster landed. Alaudia checks a dead guild body. While picking a glowing stone like a nail, he said, "The white Legacy." And he stands in front of a guild machine.

That air battle was reminiscent of Silvana vs Urbanas at Dragon Fang. The latter was much cooler though :p

And oh my god Fam is so annoying. Someone slap her.

Finally an airship battle I can care about. That was a truly awesome sequence, definitely akin to some of last season's battles. Fam and Giselle are shaping up to be quite similar to Lavi and Claus, but really I feel like a duo of pilots are bound to be that way--an overly confident pilot and cautious navi. Giselle's worrying is entirely Fam-related, and I believe she's hoping this almost slaughter of the sky pirates will cool Fam down a bit.

Interestingly, it would appear that Sara is aware of the pointless murdering Luscinia is carrying out. Whether it's truly her own orders or something her counsel has been advising her to proclaim is still not quite clear to me. It's difficult ruling a nation, but as a child? Harsh.

On a side note, Vincent mention! :D

What can I say about this episode? Well it pretty much encapsulates the entire ridiculous narrative of this show, wonder loli team stir some sh!t up, get themselves into a hole, manage to pull a rabbit from a hat (using some obvious deus ex machina scheme), effortlessly both of them manage to do what needs to be done to reach their end goal, they have all the answers, they can solve any equation the universe throws at them, and they do it without breaking a sweat .

Team loli gets praised to kingdom come, for no apparent reason, the situations team loli finds itself are 75/85% of the time fabricated by themselves. The way they manage to resolve the pickle they find themselves in is unprofessionally/amateurly and they get praised like they are the second coming of baby jesus or something.

Claus & Lavie would have resolved the situation more easily, more professionally and both of them would be lucky if they got a pat in their backs and someone (a second tier character) would say to them, good job guys, or something.

But with team loli, oh no, no, no. Team loli needs to be assured/pampered/praised all the way to the ffuking bank!

And yet even after all of that, team loli always manages to ffuk things up! Just like in this episode, it's like I (all of us) didn't see that fleet/something coming up/taking place to come and bite wonder loli team @ss off!
It's like, wtf how this wonder loli team forgot one of most important rules around?! Always check your surroundings! It's like, how didn't you see an entire fleet right behind you! It's like wonder loli team isn't that great after all!

Poor Teddy #Free Teddy!
