Hello everyone, I only do reviews for things that I enjoy, especially those that are not very well known. ^_^
Unlike most seasonal veterans, I rate it heavily based on my enjoyment like 60% of it and 40% base on the plot because everyone has their own opinion.
I never drop a show but if you see my on-hold list, it is as good as dropped >_>, but I still will watch it in future if I don't have a show to watch anymore.
Edit: I don't watch slice of life cause it makes my life feel like shit ngl :(((
Heyy, saw your comment but I can't reply lol, Bakuman become my favourite because it was relatable to my previous dream of becoming Mangaka haha
But I do love Shimada Kai and his character beats all characters in Bakuman tho haha
Yeah Rei underwent trauma which affected his shogi career. It's a sad thing that it just so happened to people in reality, them not having to accept their past and move on... which happens to me sometimes. Hope that mediocrity and having to worry over those kind of stuff won't affect your studies man and keep looking forward.
You are a Kai Shimada fan as well!? noiceeeee I am one as well, it's his perseverance to fight something he really want to take was what made me admire him more. For example, he even had to sacrifice his personal relationships in order to stand atop the world of pro shogi. And yeah his determination to gamble all of it for a greater goal- even without key skills but pure hardwork alone is what makes him interesting.
You'll definitely love him even more at the current manga arc,, like for the best and him being funny lmao.
As for Season 2, you are in for a ride of lifetime, idk if im exaggerating but; second season are all about some of the main and supporting characters aside from Kiriyama, each one of them had the best character writing and interesting monologues even which continues at the manga to make up for it. And some minor characters that felt real and in their behalf became a part of our reality, which makes Season 2 even better.
I was skeptical when I heard they are close friends with Kentarou Miura not until those arrived, it's like they are both exchanging love letter to each other haha. https://twitter.com/uminoart/status/1395335509732384769
Kentaro Miura made these btw
Really saddening to hear he passed away, may he rest in peace.
I think it was for the better of keeping Umino-sensei's manga slow chapter releases, the page counts keeps decreasing in fact, and at her own pace and making her absolutely healthy so that it won't happened just like how her close friend did. I think she was aware of his well-being around those time and she prevented to overwork herself as she was hospitalized before...
Really sorry for the late reply man, as I was on my break from social media, as you might've heard.
Yeah, as if they just ran out of steam. Quite a disappointment. :( I don't see any hope for a Season 3, either...
About Dio – can't remember if it's explained anywhere how / when he got better. I just figured he went to a kind of traumatic phase and learned to cope with it after finding the Sky Pirates (or vice versa). Maybe because I preferred that over treating that like a Retcon :D
Not sure yet how / if I'm going to use MAL, but I thought I might at least update the list a bit! I probably forgot quite a few (especially the ones I didn't like). Thanks for the tip with MAL-sync, I'll keep that in mind when I'm streaming Animes on my computer – I usually aren't ^^'
Last Exile-esque anime is a tough question. I'd say I like it so much because it's so unique to me – a very great mix of elements and ideas. Sure, there are other series with planes, or battleships, steampunk elements or sci-fi-esque guilds and stuff like that, but I don't know of anything that comes even close to Last Exile to me. :/
I watched Fam, the Silver Wing every week when it was still being aired in Japan. It certainly has interesting parts – and I gave it 8/10 after watching it, so I'm sure I was pretty hyped! – but all the connections to Last Exile seemed like fan bait without significance to me (some felt more like fan trolling...). I expected it to have 24 episodes when watching it, and then it just ended after 21, as if they just stopped doing it. I mean, there are story threads and mysteries thrown around as if everything will come to a finale in ep 24, and then it's suddenly "The End" and all that hangs in the air. I was super confused back then when there just weren't any more episodes announced for the following weeks.
But the music is awesome! I got the soundtracks to both LE and Fam and still listen to them from time to time :)
Regarding Travelers from the Hourglass / Sunadokei no Tabibito – I read that one after watching Fam because I thought I'd find at least some explanations missing from Fam in there. Instead I got a story that didn't answer anything about the Fam series and sometimes even contradicted it in parts, so that certainly didn't help :D I *think* it's all supposed to be canon, but I can't really connect it that well. I'm as confused as you are!
I got an aerial log that I bought together with the DVDs a long while ago, but that's about it when it comes to real merchandise. Everything else is just somehow related...
I heard that some dubs of Last Exile changed Dio into a girl. I'm not sure if there are other regional versions that did that, too (you watched it in english, I assume?).
The last anime I watched is The Summit of the Gods, but I'm not sure if that counts if only the Manga is on MAL. So I guess the last seasonal anime I finished would be Carole & Tuesday :)
