| It depends on your personal tastes. Someone who is into romance wouldn't obviously watch Higurashi or something similar. I say give it a try anyways. It's not AMAZING but it's not terrible either. Only you can decide whether you enjoy it or not. |

| One of the most solid, creative and well-written shows that aired this year, inferior only to Madoka and Steins;Gate. A must watch by any means (although it is indeed incomplete so far and there will be a second season sometime later). |

| Yes watch this show I don't now why people don't rank it higher. I enjoyed this show a lot more then I thought I would have and became a fav really quick. My golden rule for anime watch 3 episodes then drop or continue. Because haters are gonna hate no matter what the show. |

| Watch Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Code Geass, Darker than Black, Higurashi, Witch Hunter Robin, Shikabane Hime or anything else. It's not that it's terrible. It's just that the rank of #2051 is well deserved: it's about as mediocre as anime can get. In fact, it is exceptionally unexceptional, extraordinarily ordinary, uncommonly common, and abnormally normal. There really is nothing good or bad to say about it. And, in many ways, that is much worse than if there were nothing good to say about it and a lot of bad. You would be better off watching an anime which is genuinely awful like Apocalypse Zero or Mars of Destruction. |
| In my opinion it might not be the best of all time but I think it's quite good so yes you should watch if you are interested !! |

Funny enough I despise Evangelion and Geass, but I guess there are just other better anime then Kamisama :/ |

Unless you really like the idea of giant god statues that sing "LALALALALALAALALALALALALLAL" while they fight. Also, If you want something more recent, then try Puella Magi Madoka Magica. |

Considering the historical meaning behind the the doll names and shinto rhymes used for their songs, its one of the best things ever one could have though tup for the fight scenes. --------------------------------------------------------- at OP: Overall I'd say it depends. if you want a generic action fest with very clear character morality lines then you won't like this. If you want every character to act in unrealistic ways and be always perfect then you won't like this. However if one enjoys very atypical characters with no clear moral compass and very interesting motivations, then you might like it. There's no real standard archetypes and if they are, they get subverted. Main character is no hero and there are very complex psychological themes and reasons behind his actions and way of thinking. he also spends most of the time completely powerless(similar to modoka magica), which allows for a lot of character growth. In fact majority of this season of this show was about his growth as a person in the middle of this all crazy stuff going on. In fac tI'd say a lot of what matters happened in the past and as characters go through what happens now and we see bits of past again and again, it all sort of falls into place - why Kyohei acts the way he does, what has happened, etc. The old "childhood friends conflict because of past" theme also is hugely subverted and twisted in a way. Its based on seinen genre manga so expect some quite dark themes along the way and actual plot and romance advancements. Overall i'd say this is certainly best of this season's shows as it actually has a very realistic and unique set of characters and manages to develop them as well as to progress the story. It portrays why characters do what they do VERY and the dynamic between Aki and Kyohei is interesting to say for least. ------- As for doll singing - every "doll" in the series has an unique rhyme which depends both on owner and doll itself and reflects the nature of both owner and the rhyme itself. When doll is active it sort of "sings" its tune while doing well, anything its owner orders it. Since all the dolls have been(quite fittingly) given the names of shinto deities, the rhymes are also composed with the similar logic used behind more traditional shinto rhymes and japanese folklore. It the songs played when dolls are active also give a certain sense of foreshadowing. be of note for certain moments when the song changes into a different one :) |
