Nice movie. Drawings are very simple but it's very good sci-fi movie overall.

Is this worth watching? I've already watched the anime, and damn was it amazing, brought me to tears and all -- but the art style of this movie looks.... not very nice... ??

Good movie, but far from being as good as the anime IMO. The movie isn't long enough.

That was an interesting experience. It's true the movie suffers from a pacing problem, but apart from that I thought it was superior to the series. Firstly, the movie really has a visual identity of its own (in the character design, but also in the deep black shadows, the ships design or the Metropolis references), while the series looked like typical vaguely Matsumo Leijized scifi. Secondly the series really had caricature-like characters with what I felt were borderline absurd motivations and/or dialogues. The movie shows more nuance about exploring the human condition, which makes it easier to empathize with the characters.

Meh, it was alright. One of the few occasions that I have a problem with the end. Like they final over come all this BS and win but, it still ends with everyone dying. Hooray! And they killed blue knight at the beginning too. I kinda felt there was a lot of build up for him and he only was in the movie for about 2 seconds before he died. There were just too many deaths. They kept having to introduce new characters because they all kept dying. Which pretty much left all the characters feeling a little shallow. I'm still going to try the series.

The first twenty minutes of this movie felt identical to the book and film "The Giver".

For me, I did not feel as if there were any pacing problems, but rather issues with the progression of the story towards the end.

Nice story I must say, really interesting and with a well executed ending!

The overall pacing was a bit lacking, but in general I quite liked it!

Keith was about the only thing that the movie did better. They didn't put any effort into Jomy, he felt very half-hearted and had almost no motives to back up his random actions.

There were a lot of differences between the movie and tv series, specially when it came to the characters - Carena having a baby with Jomy, Shiroe simply being rebellious and not necessarily a mu, Soldier Blue's death - I wonder which version is closer to the manga.

ah, now i remember why i quit watching the movie. because goddamn blue died so fking early into it... BLUE!!!! BLUUUUUUUE!!!! at least i gave it enough time to try watching this again.

goddamn, i started getting interested when soldier (jomy, i don't want to call him jomy though <_<) was like "mothers used to carry babies in their womb instead of test tubes." and carina omfg carina best gorl omg she was all like "okay, i'm willing to try!" even though it's such a far removed idea from all of their minds after generations upon generations of being born in test tubes... in that sea of men, she had the courage to agree to it...

and also huh?? jomy loved physis more than carina? but since when, like that didn't even show... maybe it's because jomy inherited soldier blue's spirit and memories? maybe soldier blue loved physis?

anyways. i liked this movie, it was really interesting and i wanted to give it a 9 i truly did but there's just too many things to be regretted from this. *sigh* can't believe jomy died, i had hope he would live on but with the death of both leaders i guess it's how it's supposed to be. at first, i couldn't see jomy as a main character at all. i lamented that soldier blue couldn't continue on for just at least until the half midway point because it's truly a shame to have him die so fast and abruptly like that... but jomy grew, he became someone as worthy as soldier blue. i consider the new jomy as 30% jomy and 70% soldier blue though, it's no wonder. ya'll notice his hairstyle changed? i think his skin tone also became lighter, he just got more good looking is all. that periwinkle cape YEAHHH

side notes:
blue haired physis 👌 over blonde
seki ray? gakutoooo
lmao idk why baby tony outside keith's window repeating that he's dangerous is so hilarious but so cute at the same time awww
the amount of advertisements was insane for this movie goddamn. i watched it on crunchyroll (cause i'd rather watch it legally than, you know) and counted 16 advertisement stops. there was an average of 4 ads PER stop. that is insane, bloody, madness. i was considering just throwing some bucks towards membership just for terra e but i instead braced myself.

I'm happy you enjoyed terra e's movie more than I did.
I found this movie nearly unbearable. As many have said above the pacing of the movie is breakneck with no time for the characters and information given to us to just breath.
half-baked characters galore with no true payoffs for motivation. there is an amazing 1980s leiji-Esque SciFi somewhere buried here but I'm not finding it in this movie.
As for the soundtrack it was very copy paste with nothing worthy of note. Character designs I thought we're very good edging over let's say Versailles no Bara in quality and in a better movie I think there would be more than serviceable for the time.

side note Soldier Blue was voiced by the same seiyuu that did Andre in Versailles no Bara.

Another overlooked old movie with some awesome animation and designs (by Yoshinori Kanada and Masami Suda!). Haven't read the manga or watched the TV adaptation, but I got the idea, even if it went by too fast. There were a few truly surrealistic shots that I wish the movie had more of.

A very good movie for what it's worth. Will check out the TV series sometime in the future.

Excellent, didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I did (ノ゚0゚)ノ , there's something about old anime and how they present psychic powers that I simply love (probably has to do with the computer effects being archaic and so it has that trippy vibe), honestly the last 30 or so minutes really picked up the action and felt phenomenal, my only complaint is some characters felt, left out? At times, like where went Makka, the my that Keith saved, I really didn't see him at the end, but oh well, really creative world, my mind was blown when I saw Toei made this.

This was pretty good. Not sure what all happened, but the animation was nice and Keith was a cool guy.
