New favorite episode. Lots of tension every time they stopped. Each new visit revealed more information, and kind of brought down the old cliche of 'robin hood' who terrorizes the rich. The modern economy isn't structured in a way that allows disruptive actions, and the working class is served better (maybe not best) when they can work in a stable, growing system.

I was kind of reminded of a part of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, when Guan Yu breaks through several checkpoints to return to his lord's service. I actually liked this episode more. It didn't cling so hard to traditional values or vague, baseless loyalty. Keaton also did more than fight better: he challenged their images of a hero and outplayed them with professional knowledge.

great ep, but i had trouble digesting how retarded everybody else was acting. And the english acting was a bit underwhelming this time.
that BGM at the end, I can almost swear I've heard it in a video, I just dont know why it reminds me of zelda lol
"...our faces marked by toil, by deceptions, by success, by love; our weary eyes looking still, looking always, looking anxiously for something out of life, that while it is expected is already gone – has passed unseen, in a sigh, in a flash – together with the youth, with the strength, with the romance of illusions.” - Joseph Conrad ('Youth')

There's something wonky about this right-hand man's portrayal. At first, he seems to be psychotic - and enraged by the officer's insulting of Kendall - to the point of murdering them. Then when we finally reach him he seems to have instead have been more insidious, having actually planned to this in order to off Kendall himself and take his place - admitting to being on the company's payroll.
Either something's been cut out, or the writer's have left in a rather big inconsistency.

As for all the gun-logic, I'm interested in the 'second bluff.' How did Keaton know what kind of ammunition he was using - surely a slug would have passed through him, so what about buckshot? I suppose given the countryside-setting and all likelihood, maybe it's assumed to be something for smaller game. But then, I'm just going of my vague impressions of firearms, so maybe there's a simple explanation.

Yeah, some of the logic behind the panicky characters took away from the episode.

Not literally a hard right-angle 'L', but the curved barrels as depicted and referenced by Keaton did exist.

So the crazy guy kills the dumb cops because they insulted Kendall, then wants to kill Kendall?

Makes no sense to me.

Nor the bent gun actually working.

Good episode, but why would you allow a person to get close enough to you to put his finger in your gun barrel??

Also what he said about the bent gun barrels used during WWII was true. However, you'd need a curve rather than an abrupt bend.

There are other problems; the gun Keaton takes from the man in the first scuffle is clearly a shotgun but the cartridge he removed from it is clearly from a rifle (and, I think, even an intermediate caliber semi-auto instead of a hunting rifle); moreover it’s treated as if the gun could only possibly have had a single round in it. Seconds later Keaton badly bend the steel barrel just by hitting it with a bar-stool.

Aside from the ammunition issue with the man’s shotgun in the second encoutner, Keaton also says it’s a large caliber (not the right word for a shotgun I think although this might be an issue with the subtitles) for a shotgun when it looks perfectly ordinary.

I don’t want to exceed my own minimal knowledge of firearms but I’m not sure Keaton was even right about blocking the barrel of the gun in the first encounter. Bore obstructions are no joke; just accidentally dropping a gun into the ground barrel-first can lead to an obstruction that will indeed cause the gun to explode if fired. The idea that it would cause the gas pumps to explode seems silly but that was supposed to be a lie, after all.

All in all this story is full of nonsense.
