No thanks, no ego, no hounding press. Just the way Keaton likes it.

I thought this was a small step up from the recent episodes. In most shows Charlie would have been more involved, probably turned into a rival. His portrayal was very restrained though, and maybe even risked overplaying Keaton's superior skills, so it's interesting to see.

So Yoriko lives in Japan (she goes to school in Japan)? I thought she lived in Europe with his mother.

I was somewhat skeptical to all the English/Japanese-speaking Chinese people, especially that old creep

Charlie was pretty good, but Keaton was better.

This reminded me of Monster, and not in a good way. Nothing much happened and the main character was made to look like a genius by a silly explanation. Making a leather cartridge or a wrap and shooting a smaller caliber bullet from a historical gun? Good luck with that. Even if it fired, there's a good chance the gun is damaged, possibly seriously injuring the shooter.

Keaton really doesn't come off as so impressive when his competition is simply portrayed as wrong about everything (also a lame mamma's boy who doesn't wash his hands). Charlie "losing" again doesn't have much impact when he was shown as a foolish oaf the entire time. It's just Joe Cool versus Silly Billy.

I risk exceeding my meager knowledge of firearms, but I'm pretty sure this script drastically underestimates .22 rounds and firing a bullet down a barrel that's wider than the bullet would be wildly inaccurate. McBain was pretty close to Dorfman when he fired so maybe that was enough, but the episode made it sound less problematic than it really would be.

I didn't really think keaton came off as much smarter than Charlie just because he had some extra information and went into the investigation from the perspective of proving the dude was innocent.

Charlie was a very human character. The way his embarrassment was portrayed, him living with his mother and just how he acted in general really made it feel like there was a whole story behind him despite what little we found out. It was just a nice episode overall.
