Seriously? Zophie already caused her share of trouble last episode and he's even giving her his oxygen. AND, he just leaves his bazooka for her to find? I'm starting to get annoyed at his stupidity. It's not like him at all.

Aaaw... Coconna lost her family in the war too? How sad... just put her out of her misery then! That catfight was so ridiculous that it only made me hate both characters even more, though I'm forced to agree with her in saying that Zophie shouldn't act like she's the most unfortunate person on the universe.

And, as expected, Fyana is saved at the last minute. And I found it amusing that Chirico had to undress her to get her in the jijirium tank. That must've been fun. xD

Chirico's friggin' lucky to have very reliable friends who go out on a limb to help him again and again. Still it cannot be denied that Chirico's so friggin good at killing ATs he only need one well placed shot at the enemy's AT head with his handgun to make it explode!
You see there's no need to wonder where your god is,
Coz he's right here! ...and he's fresh out of mercy.

I actually find that a little annoying. EVERYONE other than Chirico is such a terrible shot.
Chirico has plot-armor, sure, but seriously, no one ever hits anything.

This was almost gold...so simple and tense without action and barely even any dialogue... then Vanilla jumped into the frame and the rest was a silly mess that contrasts so badly with the first two thirds it's just laughable.

The way they disposed of Zophie was particularly bad; what does Cocona's family being dead got to do with anything? If Zophie is being selfish in wanting to kill Chirico because blames him for her family's death (with pretty good reason), Cocona is being equally selfish for wanting him to live because she likes him. The charge of hypocrisy was better, but they gloss over it quickly to get to Cocona bawling. Why does Zophie even give up?

Also pretty bad is Chirico saying he definitely didn't kill her family because he actually wasn't even there. What's the point of this? It lets the air out of an interesting conflict to no purpose. Chirico even says he committed the same kind of butchery elsewhere if not here, so it's not like they're trying to preserve the moral purity of the hero; he doesn't have any! He is the kind of man Zophie thinks he is: the kind of man she wanted to kill.

It's kind of interesting that Zophie was a "portly middle-class wife" stereotype before the massacre. That character type is usually solely used for mockery.

I think you missed the point. That was Chirico himself acknowledging the fact that he has no moral purity. That even though he didn't kill people on this planet, he still thinks she deserved to kill him. I thought that was more poignant.

Chirico has good friends. I'm not sure he deserves them though. Maybe a small part of his wishes Zophie had killed him?

If Chirico's friends hadn't shown up, there's no guarantee that they would've made it in time. Fyana will be fine now.

Chirico has to be the stupidest anime protagonist I've ever seen.

My favorite episode of the season so far.

Loved the animation during the long dredge in the dessert and the scrambling for oxygen to preserve their lives was really well done.

The fight between Coconna and Zophie was pretty emotional and I liked how they let it play out without any kind of music in the background. Whatever your thoughts are about the two, raw emotion was displayed and conveyed perfectly by the two.

And Chirico is a man. He's caused so much pain for other families by his "butcher" ways that Zophie is the embodiment of all the ones that he's hurt. So instead of killing her or stating he did not murder her family, he knows he should die.

Why did Zophie give up? Because she doesn’t actually have the balls to kill Chirico. Literally and figuratively. She had plenty chances to actually pull the trigger and never did. And Chirico clearly acknowledges he’s no saint. He didn’t make excuses and even told Zophie to kill him. Annoying episode for the most part. Hopefully that’s the last we see of Zophie.
