This makes me want to post a George Ffloyd meme, but I doubt production issues have any real solution. I doubt anime can be so premium in quality if the employees were paid fairly. Disney is a good example of how paying everyone properly leads to slop in current projects. Most of our tech is made in labor camps, but I doubt most of us want to pay a higher price to get it ethically.

Not quite a big fan of the link between Ffloyd (who was at least suspected of a crime) and a guy merely doing his job but I second all the other things you said.

“Countdown to despair has begun” is the most horrifying phrase I’ve ever heard. This is just supposed to be a funny goofy anime about 100 girlfriends. How the fuck did they get to a point of “countdown to despair” πŸ’€

And DragyG is racist why tf are u defending that cop that’s insane

Is that because you could not post a Jordan Neely meme? What a fucking retarded take. Soon, you might have to go further back to Michael Brown, oh wait, that was propped up shit too.

And is the amount of money they are paid the only determining factor as to whether they do a good job or not? Is disney trash because they pay fairly? or because they wouldn't? or maybe something else altogether that has little to do with money?

Why not talk about that (and, even before that, researching honestly about it) instead of bringing inflammatory race baiting shit onto a forum discussion about anime production? This ain't bluesky, where everyone is as deranged as you are, and everyone who disagrees is "racist". talking to you, @TAPanos

Before calling someone racist please think about what they said for 2 seconds.

I said Ffloyed was suspected of a crime.
I said the charadesigner is doing his job.

I never said it was a good thing that Ffloyed got killed. Only that they aren't to be compared since one is a law enforcement issue and the other one is work ethic issue.

I wanna enjoy it too but I would be happier if I knew the people producing it are working in a sane environment.

But let's be honest

That's not an industry nor a Japanese issue here. That's merely the harsh reality most lower educated workers are living around the world.

so whats the solution to the overproduction of anime this days? with more anime being produce there is less time to make them plus there are lots of amateur animators (mostly hired on twitter aka x) being corrected by the only few and limited veteran animators and corrections doubles the time of production again

Yeah, she was going through hell in season 1, look at her tweets back in season 1's airing. "Instead of Help, a whip was brought down".

the problem is, animation is NOT a lower educated job, its a highly paid job, but its a salary job and japans salary rates also mean unpaid overtime, and its tabboo to leave work unless your boss is satisfied with your work

The answer for this problem is industry wide worker unionization, and the development of worker cooperative studios to compete against the current established studios. Workers have no power unless it’s through collective bargaining.

She could have, and is always able to, break away from this (in)glorious employee-and-consumer-exploiting industry and file a lawsuit for violation of working conditions.

Also it raises me doubt that this is another of their dirty PR strategies.

@Neterosan

That special was mostly outsourced, presumedly because most of their in-house staff was on 100G.

It's a lower educated job since you can become animator by graduating with a senmonshi degree.
https://www.tokyo-anime.jp/

You may then climb the ladder and get higher positions with a little bit more responsibilities but it won't become a post-grad position.

The income of an animator at the beginning of their career is about a monthly 90,000 JPY (572 USD 548 EUR) the mean income would be around 200,000 (1,270 USD 1,218 EUR)
https://www.dat.ac.jp/course/anime/anime-column/animator-income/
while Japan mean income is approximately 381,667 JPY (2,422 USD 2,332 EUR)

So nope it's not a high paying job in Japan for most of those working in that industry. (There are a few that are paid really much more than this)

For the unpaid overtime work I don't know many countries in which overtime is automatically retributed (in most cases the law says it should be paid while most workers keep their mouth shut so they don't get fired and their company doesn't get someone to do the same job while not mouthing)

Yano posted again, thanking everyone and saying that she is not troubled about work, so people don't need to worry. So maybe it's something more personal and not regarding particularly harsh production, industry insiders hasn't shared any stories if there is heavy crunch rn on Bibury. So maybe it's all works fine in the end and we overreacted a bit.

Those who went on pre-screening said that first episodes looked great. Quintuplets production line was mostly outsourced and team was working on 100gf instead and Grisaia that airing in this season and upcoming 2 cours of Witch Watch in Spring have different key staff.

Sounds like she won’t for very long if the studio keeps treating her like this… I wouldn’t blame anyone on the production team for despising the series if they’re being abused to make it
