| I'm just gonna let this be a thread for us to discuss Bleach and Saint Seiya's connections. Saint Seiya was the main inspiration for Kubo sensei to become a mangaka, and iirc it was a heavy inspiration for Bleach too. Kubo sensei said he really loved Cygnus Hyoga. The only similarities I can see for now is Shinigami with Saints, Soul Society with Sanctuary, and the Gotei 13 with the 12 Gold Saints. |

| There's actually quite a few similarities if you dig a little bit into both series. There's the whole deal of both series involving eventually going to an afterworld. The deal of the characters employing living weapons. These weapons being tiered and upgradeable as well, though in different ways. Then, there's the similarities between both series most iconic arcs. There's an argument to be made that Bleach's Soul Society arc is a more ambitious take on Saint Seiya's Sanctuary arc, taken to a much grander scale. Both arcs involve the main group of heroes storming the titular places with either very little information or outdated and unreliable intel by people who were previously involved with the organisations. Both involve rescuing a member of the team on a time limit. There are 12 gold saints in Saint Seiya and 13 captains in Bleach... but let's not forget that the Pope character in SS is always a former gold saint, so the number of elite warriors in both series is actually the same. Also, there's the fact that while both groups are storming through the place, the organisation is also dealing with internal conflicts at the same time and it is made abundantly clear in both cases that the only reason the group of heroes stood a chance at all in their endeavours, it's because they didn't have to actually confront the whole elite faction and even got assistance from them... not to mention a few similar plot twists by the end of the arcs. So yeah, all in all, there's some very definite Saint Seiya influence on Bleach. |

The power systems are pretty similar; both series have ranked fighters, like the bronze, silver, and gold saints in Saint Seiya and the captains, lieutenants, and espada in Bleach. They also share similar themes of loyalty, duty, and sacrifice. On top of that, Bleach includes some mythological elements, just like Saint Seiya. That being said, the copy can never outshine the original. :3 |

Hmm, a few things come to mind. | @Jellybeanx Eh...I feel like if anything the Espada are more equivalent to either Poseidon's Mariners or Hades' Specters because they are rivals of the Saints like Espadas are rivals of Shinigami. But yeah, I can see the themes in both Bleach and Saint Seiya. |
