Am I blind, or are the trailer and voice acting not as bad as people (especially the Japanese) made it out to be?

I watched the trailer, a lot of Japanese disliked the artstyle/drawing and the voice acting. But it looks ok to me? Sure it needs improvements, but the reactions seem to make the trailer looks worse than I think it is.
The reactions feel similar to their reactions to Blue Lock Season 2 as if they are on the same quality or something. And I'm talking about the Japanese ppl's reactions; I've seen way more enthusiasms and appreciations from foreign fans rather than JP.

Like, am I blind or is it really that bad?

It looks like a normal trailer to me, I don't know what could be wrong.

That's the case for almost all anime, one punch man, overlord, all of them people make them out to be worse than they are, I personally like to ignore most of those cause God there are so many of them

It’s not bad, it’s just not to the standards people expected (myself included). SakaDays needed a better studio imo, something like A1, Bones, Madhouse… but it still looks alright.
Gachiakuta is the greatest manga of all time

It's a standard trailer with decent animation. The problem is that it's definitely not enough for a highly anticipated big Shonen Jump IP which is mainly action focused and has even better fights than JJK in the manga. Nothing more lol.

Shows like JJK, Demon Slayer, CSM, and many many more are exceptions to the exception of the rule

You can't say there are ''many many more'' examples and then call them exceptions to exceptions.

It’s not bad at all but the direction could hv been better considering the kind of series Sakadays is

@GoCrayzee Bingo. Yeah hopefully it's at least decent and maybe they surprise us as the episodes go on but this definitely deserved top tier animation considering the choreography in the manga is probably some of the best of all time.

It looks decent and I guess that's the problem they have.

As a fan, I'll be the first to admit the manga's story isn't remarkable at all and the character chemistry isn't anything to write home about either. It's still entertaining on those ends, but that's it.

The manga depends 100% on its action to keep the audience engaged and indeed, the action scenes are just so good it manages to do that.

This kind of anime only having decent animation will make for an anime that's entertaining while it's airing, but which people will most likely forget about once another bigger action IP returns with a new season or a new action IP with better animation comes along.

I think when it comes to the voice acting it's because Shonen Jump released some voiced comic videos on their channel that had newer/lesser-known VAs in the industry. It was a few years back, but I would imagine older fans of Sakadays grew attached to those selected voices and were hoping those same Japanese seiyuu would return for the anime. So the "issue" comes up where they announce an anime adaptation and decide to hire already popular/prolific seiyuus, whereas they could have gone with some fresher talent instead. One could argue that having a project with well-established voice actors in the industry should be an honor. But sometimes people want to root for the underdog and support those who have a chance of making a bigger break, especially if they get to be part of a popular shonen title. Junya Enoki (Itadori's VA in JJK) is a perfect example; he already voiced a bunch of smaller roles before JJK, but really spiked in popularity as a new Shonen MC. This allowed him more opportunities and recognition in the Japanese seiyuu industry, which is hella competitive as is.

@GoCrayzee we know A-1 is on the verge of bankruptcy, so a Sakamoto Days adaptation, could be a game-changer for them.
but I am content with the trailer, even tho, I expected more, I will shut my internet off so I can enjoy the shows I like (LOL)

@Chami_Aster If they used, young VAs it was better, for the fresh talents; guess they did not want to risk it.

My guy Sakamoto days is not being animated by A-1 pictures lol it’s TMS Solo leveling and Fate strange fake is being animated by A-1 and they look way better than Sakadays which is a shame cuz the source material for SL is nothing to write home about

I disliked the compositing, art direction almost everything about the trailer. This manga is just very good and deserves a great adaptation with great production not average

@Uruichi You got me wrong, I know it is animated by TMS, I was just giving you info regarding of why A-1 is not adapting SD, simply because of the condition they have, and of course the deadline for the anime.

@CrunchyCrobat But they are right: Overlord had a terrible cgi with which to animate the monsters and the action scenes were not that spectacular or well animated, which says a lot if we consider that the studio was Madhouse. One punch man S2 same problem, quite generic designs, a very flat direction, very annoying sound, inconsistent and not at all fluid animations, not to mention the great work that was behind the 1st season... and if you also compare it with the manga, it really seemed like the manga was animated better than the S2 of one punch man
