It feels like most of the runtime is filled with static pngs sliding around on a flat plane with a grass texture stretched across it.

Truck ride at the end of e4 is especially bad.

Tbh I thought that the animation got a solid improvement. Now if you want static PNGs, go say hello to Blue Lock Season 2

Yes. I rewatched S1 before this season, and it's not great.

The only thing striking me with s2 is how much time in felt like filler. We harldy have seen LLENN and her team.

To this point I'm quite disappointed I hope the second part in the ship will be better.

Its been 6 years since S1

Soo

Nostalgia/recency bias

Also a bit of expectation creep I guess. When there's a big difference/gap in time its more different

The environment in general is a little different as well.

I'd say overall it looks shamey.
There are a few shots in S1 that went hard like Pito revealing the lightsaber in that cabin or LLEN cutting her hands and bitting her, but those were highlights. Overall it was a budget show despite being better than the main franchise.

@DragyG Considering how LLEN acts this season, every minute with her feels like a missed minute in the show.

True even in the latest ep though we see her quite a bit more she doesn't do that much...

The art and animation quality was about the same in the first season, its just that the action structure in the second season is a metric ton worse.

Recently rewatched S1 a couple months back (Before this is airing) and I think it's an improvement from S1, definitely.

While overall it might looks the same but this one has more consistent quality whilst in S1 you'd get quite a lot of jank frames/drawings, animations are a bit better.

But that's just me, though it's a shame that A-1 decided to use their name to credit this one while it's clearly that it's still mostly 3Hz's works (After A-1 put the amazing spectacle last season called "Makeine" so watching this is a bit shocking)

I wished the core A-1 is the one that doing this tho, it might comparable with it's parent anime.

@EgatammaN A-1 bought 3Hz animation department in June. Why should they credit it differently when the former studio is now part of theirs?

@Nachtwandler_21 It's a last call thing since in the trailers 3Hz is still the credited ones, I'm pretty sure the studio sales/deal/proposal etc didn't took overnight and the anime has been in works for probably at least a year or so before they made the deal.

I mean, A-1 has better quality than this and they definitely risked it to put this under their names. I'm still thinking making this as an official last anime for 3Hz would be a better choice since I'm pretty sure they finished 75% of the anime before the sales is official.

To those that new into anime might gonna think that this is actually being made by A-1 which isn't good PR or maybe confused why this one has worse quality than the parent story despite being in the same studio. But of course, weebs like us know the answers but regular average people probably won't.

@EgatammaN gave you actually seen a lot of A1 productions. They do great when the project is in thre priority but they have a lot of projects in genertal so a lot of them look bad. If you consider this series bad by A1 standards, sorry to disappoint you. It is not the bnest but is higher than average.

No, they don't look. Most A-1 series look average at worst.

@Oongbuh have you seen some of the titles they made in especially busy seasons? Togainu no Chi is the one I always remember for how bad the animation was.

@Nachtwandler_21 That was 14 years ago.

Like the other dude said, recent A-1 shows looked average at worst. And to me, as long as the animation is consistent and less jank frames, I can consider them as good.

A-1 left a mark for me during Lycoris Recoil in which aired the same time as Engage Kiss in which that was probably a busy season for them, Engage Kiss to me looks decent vs the amazing looking Lycoris Recoil.

The latest mediocre animated A-1 show that I can remember was www.Working if compared to its predecessors which are better and before that there's Denpa Kyoushi (This one was a trainwreck ngl, though it was apparently hectic busy season for them, just checked and I didn't watch the other A-1 shows that season though) but after that I think they actually got a grip.

And I'm not saying GGO2 is bad, I clearly said that it is miles better than the S1 and highly enjoying it especially Ep.7 but it's just jarring to see this as A-1 credited anime after watching Losing Heroine. It would be better for the people at 3Hz to actually see their company name for the last time as a farewell but hey, that's just my opinion, I'm not an entrepreneur or businessman.
