So that the quality can be better and they can take longer on these and a cash grab I assume

@Phantom_373 Now we will have to wait ~5-6 years to finish this anime ...

Because they want to swim in the money, in a pool 3 times bigger than Mugen Train's. Why is this surprising?

Stop whining, they don't give a fuck about your complaining that it will take years for you to watch it.

Final arc is constant, high octane action. Ufotable is totally capable of stretching one manga panel portraying a fight scene into several minutes of animation and I'm pretty sure they'll do it here as well.
Overall, I think it is a great idea, because Mugen Train succeeded so hard for a reason.

@Piromysl Yes I know but personally I prefer small breaks between arcs or fights ...

Imagine watching A fighting B then after 9 months you watch the second fight ... this sucks

and if you forgot what happened you will have to rewatch older seasons.

The reason why I hate movies and multi-core shows is that I forget many important events so I will waste time rewatching something I already watched instead of using that time to do something else.

@Petroun I trust ufotable and they are one of the best studios if not the best.

Hope years pass quickly ...

I'm not surprised. They made final episode of last season + first episode of this season into a movie. That what Ufotable (or should I say Aniplex) does. Bocchi the Rock recap movies, Kizumonogatari Compilation film, you name it. I'm not mad actually. Fans get theatrical experience for their favorite shows, big corporation gets money, and they use some of that money maintain the quality. That's a fair deal give how unrewarding anime adaptations are generally for the Studios.

Obviously, this makes sense for the studio from a money-making perspective, but still, I am greatly disappointed. This whole time, I've been hoping against all odds that we'd get the last big arc in one big season, similar in length to the first. Now, we'll have to go through three cinema releases instead? Ugh...

Because money. Mugen Train was dropped in the middle of a pandemic and shattered advance ticket sales records, set several box office records, topped the Japanese box office charts for TEN consecutive weekends, all on its way to becoming the highest grossing anime movie of all time. Japan clearly loves them some Demon Slayer, these movies could put up even crazier numbers.

The people calling the shots at Aniplex and Shueisha see this and will obviously try to squeeze out all the profits they fathomably can out of one of the most profitable IPs they've ever gotten their hands on. Sure it sucks for us as the consumer but corporate greed for that sweet sweet box office money is going to take priority over our feelings. Complaining will get us nowhere and won't change their minds.

Finally someone in here with some sense lol.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

They probably won't even have the final fight in the trilogy, only to come up with a final season that they can split into 4 parts to re-tell the movies in 3 of the 4 parts, only to add the final fight which could also get split into multiple parts.

It's gonna be AoT all over again, calling it here.

@HRZ90 How is that remotely similar to AoT? AoT had all seasons and 2 back to back mini movie specials and both released within 6 months of each other
if these demonslayer movies all come out within 5-8 months of each other then thats super good

The reason is that the "Mugen Train" movie did well at the box office, and if this is also made into a movie, it is expected to do well at the box office.

Because minus a few scenes all of it it's 4 fights in total, Upper moon 3, 2, 1 and Muzan. The many episodes format don't lend themselves well for singular long fights. Many cliff hangers for a single fight will get tedious. 4 fights for 3 movies fits much better than 20 episodes all for those few fights.
