What are your opinions on whether (and when?) we might get a season 3?

I'll just leave it up to the creators, if they decided that this series is going to get a 3rd season, then I know I'll be tuning in. If not, it's been an amazing ride.

hopefully never. this garbage managed to make one of the most boring female characters possible and give her the spotlight. another season would just be more boring library scenes talking about garbage book plots that are completely irrelevant to everything. and don't get me started on the stupid play that we had to listen to the story of 15 times. unironically the show was better when an angry autist obsessed with smash was screaming at his entire class cause a girl said video games are cringe. that was funny

That came from the heart but I do agree with some of what you said

it's too harsh to say these things about season 2. Because Fuuka's story at some place connects with her relationship with tomozaki.

Nah it’s time for them to retire this one after the way this season went.

Possible, but I don't think soon. I get the impression that this anime is low priority for the studio and would explain why it took 3 years for the second season, but that's just my opinion.

I would like another season I'm invested into the series but not enough to dive into the books so hopefully sometime down the road they do.

There is enough source material to make a 3rd season. As always, it just depends on how much money the 2nd season and related sales makes to justify investing in making a 3rd season.

If they decide to hold off on it there are plenty of side stories in the light novel they could make OVAs for:

The melancholy of the pre-perfect heroine (Aoi)
The color of words (Fuuka)
Fast enough to leave it all behind (Mimimi)

Are from volume 6.5 and are all long enough to serve as at least half of a an episode as they did in the first 2 OVAs.

Volume 8.5 has 2 stories that might get saved for a potential 3rd season but that also has 2 other longer side stories they could animate into OVAs too.

@Rayane-47 season 2 ended with the end of volume 7.

shrug, if it happens i'll do the same thing i did with S1&2 and wait for Funi-Roll's Edubs. i wasn't invested in either season enough to dive straight in on day 1 with the Jdub. so if S3 pops up, i'll watch it weekly when the English version rolls around... otherwise, this S2 ending sucked for me. i didn't like how it ended and i'm disappointed.
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

I personally think it's better has its end right here. If they truly want to milk some contents, they better make spin-offs with focus on other characters like Aoi or Minami.

Also I honestly doubt they'll actually continue this show to the next season but we'll see, maybe another 3 years to wait?

@Rayane-47 The side stories are mostly told from the perspective of the other characters besides Fumiya. They help flesh out the side characters and show us their perspective and thoughts since the light novel is otherwise entirely from Fumiya's perspective.

Melancholy is from when Aoi was in middle school as she was partway through her ascent into the "perfect heroine". Color is from when Fuuka was in middle school and first discovered Andi's books. Fast is from around when Mimimi quit track and focuses on her love of running.

I like to see season 3 for the relationship of Fumiya and Fuuka.
