My *new* rating scale, freely applied to not have too many 7's,8's etc:
1 - is without description.
2 - Incredibly bad. Changed the standards by which I judge shows.
3 - Plagued by intrinsic flaws that cannot be overcome. I hate watching these, or hate myself for watching these.
4 - Has intrinsic flaws, but manages to work with them in a way that redeems them somewhat.
5 - Average. Nothing good, but nothing too bad. Won't recommend.
6 - Expresses ideas and/or qualities that elevate it above the crowd, but without excelling too much in it. I'll definitely forget about it.
7 - Decent execution marginalised by flaws that could be easily corrected. Enjoyable. I'll probably forget about it but occasionally remember how cool it was.
8 - Blew me away. Will stick with me.

2 - Made for commercial gain, fake artistic expression or similar, but expresses some desire to show acceptable media.
3 - Plagued by intrinsic flaws that cannot be overcome, yet does not fall into the trap of pandering.
4 - Has intrinsic flaws, but manages to work with them in a way that redeems them somewhat.
5 - Average. Nothing good, but nothing too bad.
6 - Expresses ideas and/or qualities that elevate it above the crowd, but without excelling too much in it.
