It feels like Hinako is on a quest of destiny but nonetheless makes the best of what she can with her skills.

Also, I'm impressed how much connection the cast with one another. Regardless where they are, it also feels like there's always a bond especially between Kira and Hinako.

Nice to see Kaho again

After parting ways with Akira and Roroku, Koushi, following his sister Hinako, reunites with Kiri, a tree person, in the factory district. Meanwhile, Touko and her companions reunite with Kaho. Kaho was exiled from the village as a bride for a cleansing ritual. Originally from the Crystal Village. Encountered Touko while on a retrieval truck. Along their journey towards the shrine upon receiving a message from Akira to become the new king, they encounter Hibana, who is searching for her daughter, Kira.

As Koushi, guided by the giant tree person Kiri, finally arrives at the shrine, he is instructed by Takimi to hand over Hinako.

Cool to see Kaho again. I actually remembered her lol.
Yeah, I'm lost. Maybe I'm not paying enough attention or something, but it was like this near the end of season 1 too. Oh well, I'll finish it.

This episode was very productive. Characters met each other, had monologues, battles.

Today episode was a lot for Akira. People pushing the Hikari no Ou title on her, Mrs. Okibi calling her a she-fox, stopping a suicide bomber.

I forgot how huge that sickle is.

Koushi finally reunites with his sister and encounters Kiri. Together, they search for Kunugi, one of the last tree people. Meanwhile, Touko, Akira, and Kun witness the brainwashing the Spiders have done to the capital's inhabitants. Kaho returns after a long absence and delivers the news that Akira is the new Lady of the Fire Hunters.

Apparently, the divine clans have different plans regarding the flickering flame, with one involving the creation of new humans by the Water Clan. With Kunugi's help, reaching the palace becomes possible. However, Koushi and Hinako, who seems to be undergoing some kind of crisis, cross paths with Takimi.

Still confuse but overall it's about human being used as a pawn in a proxy war between several supernatural being, probably...

I don't know the LN, so I may be completely off, but at times the anime feels somewhat ... disconnected, just a little bit like they were forced to leave stuff unanimated or skip scenes, and in some cases didn't really adjust the voice scripts for it.

Not sure if it's just rose-coloured lenses, but from memory s1 felt more coherent and looked less patchy.

I feel the same
Season one felt brighter in the color department and had a bit of detail, well, at least more than this season

Yeah this season does feel a little more disjointed but I'm somewhat understanding what is going on, and kudos to the posters that have recapped this episode.

My own brief summary to help make sense of what's going on: Akira seems to be a chosen one for the fire hunters while Kira is a chosen one as a vessel for the flickering flame. There are characters that are directly involved such as Koushi who is aiming to stop Kira from being used as vessel and Touko who is currently accompanying Akira and Kun, and they had just picked up bugs that can "infect" humans to no longer combust to regular fire.

This anime somehow managed to make me more frustrated with every new episode. With the newest episode, some supposedly magnificent sequences are so poorly presented that I just wanna laugh, cringe, roll my eyes and cry all at the same time. Bravo! Hikari no Ou! Bravo! Keep the game up so I can have another 1/10 show on my list.

Koushi has learnt the basics of making skyfire, and finding Hinako there with the treefolk, only Kiri is alive, and the giant Kunugi is alive, just back at the forest. Akira, Touko and Kun back to square one, and encountering a father-and-son group who wants to commit suicide, luckily this was foreseen, and Akira managed to stop the implosion from happening. Kiri following Koushi and Hinako (who took Akira's sickle with her), and within a stretch, Kaho is reunited with Akira and Kun, though a message to Akira that humanity will be saved if they listen to the spiders, and the red-haired fire hunter to become the new Lord, not just from Shouzou's belief that she'll succeed him. But, Akira is already set not to be the next Lord herself.

Finding Mrs. Okibi who's out of her mind and attacking Akira, Kun at least made it up for the defense when both Kanata and Temari were whisked away. Back to the treefolk, Kunugi found alive with Yanagi stuck within it, as Ruri-Matsuri of the Wood Clan comes cleaning up the act. The realization of Hinako also being only held together by Takimi's drugs, Kunugi nay have saved them out of trouble, but to Koushi, Kiri and the sickle, his troubles are far from over.

If Kiri isn't enough, then Hinako might just be Koushi's breaking point.

Yeah let's be done with Mrs. Okibi now...

Now to deal with the Takimi bastard.
