Didn’t do anything back then when he had the opportunity to; plenty of opportunities too. But now that she’s in a relationship is when you now want to do something? Nah, get him outta here. That flashback ain’t getting any empathy out of me.

@noseastancruel People are like this because he has been the same asshole for 40 chapters. Main couple was established around chapter 8! and Oushi has had ZERO character development these 40 chapters, trampling on their relationship. Treating both mains extremely poorly. Being a brat.

Now, suddenly, he has a whole ass realization about how feelings work after half a chapter. No, he does not suddenly deserve to confess to her and, once again, annoy both leads and put Yuki on the spot. He should improve himself now and be a nice human being towards them.

Also, he is TWENTY (20!) fricking years old. He is not some dumb teenager in love. It kinda is his friends fault, too, for brainwashing him into thinking he could sabotage their relationship but he could've known better, being alive 20 years and 40 chapters. Your take on it makes 0 sense. He literally IS the worst in this romantic/interpersonal context and a fricking young ADULT not "just a boy in love πŸ˜…πŸ˜…".

"trampling on their relationship", "treating both mains extremely poorly", "being a brat" ....
((exactly when he behaved like a brat beyond redemption? when exactly he treated Yuki EXTREMELY (lol) poorly? did he abused her, hurted her?))
everything you wrote has absolutely nothing to do with what i wrote. i never said he wasn't a brat or else. i never said he wasn't an asshole. the only thing i wrote was that people treat him like a war criminal. and i stand by that.
what is your point? based on your text, just because he is a "brat" (with "zero development") he can't have a "realization about how feelings work" after a time of alienation and act on it? these two things have zero correlation. in fact, one could say that's exactly how emotional development works.
another thing "he doesn't deserve to confess" why?
he doesn't deserve to confess cause he's gonna "annoy both leads"? that is not a logical argument. now, a character can only make decisions it feels right to them when they're a perfect human being, completely improved and flawless, with no chance of doing wrong?
and i am not even saying that this decision is good for him or the main couple, maybe its not. but your words are dripping with so much moral judgment that simply cannot be applied to these type of characters.
the author wrote this chapter from his pov alone, because she understands that. she understands he is flawed, she also understands that he loves yuki and that even he sees his messed perception of her. jesus, she even included a nice scene with his friends and all some people can think about is "hmmm im not feeling sorry for him".
maybe you and i read manga differently, but i am not gonna impose my moral high ground in front of his feelings. i try to understand why he does what he does, just like i try to understand why ITSUOMI does what he does.
and given your last observation, i will rectify what i said. he's just a man (20 years!!!) in love.

He did indeed hurt her many multiple times throughout the series, in different magnitudes (ranging from little to absolute asshole). This chapter alone shows 2 instances. When Itsuomi got introduced he was probably at his worst. Won't take time out of my day to give you exact lines, tho. Lmao. It is an overall fact.

You literally did not only write that but also that "it is funny how people treat him [...], hes just a boy in love, relax". You implied that people shitting on Oushi for being a terrible person are to be made fun of in a degrading tone. Same with telling people to relax. Also, most of what I typed was about him being an ADULT not "a boy in love". It quite literally had everything to do with what you wrote.

noseastancruel said:

Huh. Now that is something I never wrote/implied. I just commented on how he had, factually, ZERO character development across the past 40 chapters. That is NOT me further piling on him, you probably misunderstand the statement (he did grow more bitter but that was his inherent trait, anyways). Chapter 41 had him rise from the dead, lmao.

What the HECK are you on about, hahaha. He had an epiphany. He saw the light. His 3rd eye opened. I want him to act the way that would be proper after what we just experienced as readers. He went "woah I was the asshole, massively hurt her/everyone and need to be better!" into "... I should confess!". If you like that kind of writing, more power to you, tho!

Then some stupid paragraph idirectly insulting me, whatevs. Next writing about the author and their intentions, cool. Your opinion is really interesting to me now, surely. His friends "nice scene" when they STILL imply he can sabotage his way in. Super sweet and what the author intended was indeed for us to feel sorry for Oushi and like his friends! /s
No, I don't feels sorry for him, still, at this point. Dude is at fault 100%, we know, he knows, his friends know. I am ~happy for his character~ to not be an annoying tool anymore after 40 chapters. Woah! Yeah, stuff like that can happen even with me piling on him!

Finally, have fun trying to understand! Following a youtube tutorial "how to analyze character and story in MANGA" won't make you a specialist. You interpreted and made up as much stuff as I did when going beyond Oushi's characterization and then you talk about my words "dripping with so much moral judgement" blabla. You are not imposing a moral high ground on a character when criticizing them for acting weirdly or their terrible character (both meanings). Get a grip.

@noseastancruel
woah sure.
But the story has been dragging for quite a while because of oushi.
Can't oushi just move on already. Why his character gonna drag the story.
Idgaf he is in love with yuki.He is too late for that.
He is childish.
When he is clearly an adult.
His action is really immature.
Why is he act like that?
He is the only character that doesn't move on already.
Like Emma already move on with itsuomi and get closer with shin.
Idk why oushi is the only character that doesn't have character development yet.
His "love" have been dragging the story for 41 chapters.
and of course people going to treat him like that. πŸ˜πŸ˜’
I don't really see your point.
What are you even try to understand about him?
When the reason he end up like that is 100% his own fault.🀷🏻‍β™‚οΈπŸ˜
But still oushi is not that bad. I don't hate him.I still like his character he's kinda cute. But the way he act is just.. πŸ˜”

Also....why TF is his "love" dragging the story for 41 chapters. Like? 😐
He should just give up and move on already.
Yuki is already taken.
Why he needs to confessed his feeling now? He is too late for that.
Why he needs to do "something" before giving up on Yuki? Just move on already oushi. πŸ˜πŸ˜’
