The Pinochle HQ incident is quite the high-profile situation that has taken both the public and the Kingdom of Fourland by storm, and High Card is indefintely suspended for now.

For now, Finn seeks recluse at Sun Gardens Orphanage, while Sugar Peace has lined up everything about the X-Playing Cards, as well as the Klondike Family being the culprit in this act, and putting all 3 together: Ban, Theodore, and Captain Young. A coincidence that Theodore's childhood frenemy of Who's Who's Norman comes to visit Pinochle and understand the situation between Theodore and Ban, which has been years in the process of rivalry between the two. Ban was actually a decent person who's the next heir of the family, while Theodore has been in the know about the X-Playing Cards for quite the while.

Facing a rival using the 7 of Hearts "Chameleon" power, Theodore counters it with his Queen of Hearts "Balor" power, and soon Ban's King of Diamonds "Round and Round" power. Bernard was also there to counterract with Ban to join the Pinochle family to collect the X-Playing Cards, and at first, things were looking good. That is until Captain Young stepped in, and that's how he came to know about the cards. Both Ban and Theodore's relationship may be buddies like oil and water, but their relationship soon got worse, as much as the cards changed their lives. What was once the commune at the Old Maid branch, was where relationships were made and got broken, and Young was NDA-ed and swore not to talk about the Cards ever again.

The god-killing Joker card "San Galgano" is the most tempramental to make Ban's goal come alive, and because of Chris's X-Hand, he got even more motivated to become like Chris, and this is his plan to get back at Theodore for limiting his potential in the past.

Definitely the much-needed episode to expose the main plot behind the series. The Cards hold everyone's fate in their hands.

Has Mr. Apple appeared before? I feel like I remember him.
10:09 Google says "In Irish mythology, Balor or Balar was a leader of the Fomorians, a group of malevolent supernatural beings."

There is a scene after credits!
Good episode, was nice to learn more about the past. And there was some really cool animation.

So got to learn about the past of Ban & Theodore and how young made contact with them, but some important matter regarding this path is still incomplete. Looking forward to how the story progresses from here.

There was some pretty good info dump in this episode with learning that both Theodore and Ban once worked together, and even the cop Young was involved. My takeaway from Theodore and Ban is basically that Theodore is a stickler for the rules and can't seem to see an "overall picture" whereas Ban wants both himself and everyone else to use the playing cards as they see fit regardless of rules.

Very nice backstory episode. Gives a lot of context behind Theodore and Ban’s relationship. It’s always interesting seeing how two people who were so close and such great friends can wind up going down different paths over a difference in ideology.

In this case, the use of the cards. While Theodore was a stickler for the rules, Ban wasn’t and you kinda see that in how Theodore went on to get a government job while Ban does his own thing with the mob. Even Young was involved with them back in the day? Wow. Too bad things had to go the way they did..

Still no update on Chris. I’m praying he can pull thru.

I loved the animation for Balor, Theodore’s blue eyes looked so fresh and same with Ban, his Rounds move was so cool to see in action🤩

I guess the Ace of Spades is the armored knight? Joker the king? There is still stuff to be revealed about Finns family. Maybe he is related to the royal family. And I wonder how Finn's and Theorode's card would work combined. (He could see anything/anyone + then shoot with the weapon from his own card. If Finn got the other card from Theodore maybe.)

Probably would be the best if they destroyed all the cards in the end. Man I wish it would be common to have 3 seasons. With this being the 2nd cour and them giving good enough background info this got a lot more interesting than the previous season now. (With previous and this episode.) So I think this will end well with the 2-cour setup we usually have that we have here as well. Looking forward to the next episodes.

Maybe Finns parents died in some incident where Ban wanted to use his card (to save a girl he liked)?
I really l ike the char design. Especially the old (present) Theodore.

Another amazing episode. This show just keeps getting better and better!

The backstory was great! Nice to see how Bernard, Theodore, Ban and the King (glad to see him again!) are connected. But it once again raises more questions - what about the incident with the lightning murder? What happend between Ban and Theodore? Can't wait to learn more about all this!

In the present, I just love how Finn went to Chris right after hearing the backstory of the Old Maid Branch. I just love their relationship.

On a funny note - how did the three handsome ikemen turn into those monsters? Theodore is fine - just a little worn out by his mindset. Greg, well, he got fat and smoking isn't good for his health. But what happend to Ban? How can someone so hot become so ugly?

I was starting to wonder when would the Joker get some mention and what role would it play in all of this. I suspected it would be important but not as much as to seal the cards power, which is huge. Ban has kidnapped Theodore whose relationship we now know (mostly, we're missing a key incident) as well as Young's underling. I hope Chris gets better in the future and things start to lighten up again.

I feel this is a pretty good summary of the two characters given how this was an info-rich backstory episode that sets up the base of High Card's main plot conflict between Pinochle and the Klondikes. I will be honest, I'm not the kind of person that doesn't take in information as a whole—just observing the action sequentially—so reading up an episode discussion about it. Then again, as @AnimeSrk mentioned, this episode covers only part of the story, and we've only gotten a taste of what happened on that fateful day when Theodore and Ban went their separate ways. Overall, in my opinion, the plot is starting to get interesting as there's finally some substance to the series' plot foundation.
