@otakuweek I kind of figure they might be sibling because of their eyes, but kind of denied it cause triplet are just rare/weird in anime. After the maid death the theory become more feasible but again triplet are weird

Hummm, I never really payed attention because ti the eyes. he was different from the “twins”…

Omg the husband's ineptness/spineless is making my head hurt. He confesses his love to Metry (when he realised he got her pregnant) only to ignore that she's locked in the basement for years, and being so casual about Eiji baby who came from nowhere being "reeducated" as a grown teenager. Him and his wife casually talk about his "reeducation" at some point. What even is this man 😓

Reiko very likely was manipulating him like she did everyone else.
@traed Did you miss the part where Reiko casually tells him that "baby Eiji" is slowly learning to talk again? No grown adult would believe that is normal considering nobody else grew up with their mom repeatedly doing that to them T_T

There is a big difference between being manipulated (like what happened with Metry) and playing along/playing dumb

I have a feeling there are some old parenting books with stuff like that in it though not to such an extreme. Like I mentioned in some past thread I can confirm that there has been various quack views that you can redo someone's past. I had a tutor as a kid who wanted me to do aN exercise of a low crawl on the floor claiming not crawling enough as a baby gave me ADD, it was pretty goofy but I went along with it sometimes since it was just like any other dumb chore. There also had been some psychologists doing a dangerous trend of something called "rebirthing" which is simulate the birthing process and if you look up the term you will probably find articles on it of deaths caused and a lot of parents believed in this shit.

That aside Im saying she probably brainwashed or otherwise manipulated with threat of violence her husband not necessarily the same way she manipulated Metry and brainwashed and gaslit Eiji. He's probably afraid of her and rightfully so. He also possibly was broken from losing Metry. There is still more left so maybe they explain it better.

woah.. finally that bit- woman is dead! eiji seems to have a thing for killing mother figures.. jk. i hope eiji runs out of the house with migi, dali, fat beaver boy, and karen before he gets caught on fire and they can have a good ending somehow (although "hitori" and eiji would be wanted criminals..)

@traed I didn't know practices like that existed, sorry you had to go through that.

However that still just proves the husband was either inept or incredibly spineless. The children are fully aware how messed up Reiko is but because they are minors they know they can't get away and then survive independently. The husband is a fully grown adult. He should have been able to dissolve the situation in at least a couple years time even if manipulated or blackmailed or broken from losing Metry, but 12 or so years have passed and he did nothing? Even Dali&Migi and Karen were already planning and just waiting for their time to escape the woman...

There really is no excuse for this man

It doesn't weigh on me or anything, it just makes it sound more dramatic than it actually was being mentioned along side actually serious things.

It should be pretty clear everyone in the show acts a little surreal but it's not really that out of the ordinary. Tons of people stay in abusive relationships and wind up feeling helpless. I don't think there is much to gain overly analyzing his actions, when he's practically a side character at least still anyway.

@traed Sadly I understand how abusive relationships work, hence why I implied he'd need at least a couple of years to plan his escape (with the children hopefully), but he really did nothing. His children have more spine than him. A part of me is hoping he'll spine up and become less of a side character since he's so intertwined with everything now. It's kind of painful to watch this character be so actionless. Waiting for next episode... 🙏

So Eiji really was Migi and Dali's brother. And my gosh, that woman is so insane, she makes me puke! I feel so sad that Eiji had to resort to violence, but I'm still hoping this anime will have a happy ending :(

The truth of Metry is finally here, as well as how Reiko became this demented, and man was it a rollercoaster. I can’t really tell if Metry was a good person or not, that look she gave Reiko as she hugged Reiko’s husband is what’s got me feeling that way, as if she knew what she was doing, but the rest of her actions say otherwise. Needless to say tho, this entire situation was fucked once Reiko started having Metry sleep with her husband lol, ain’t no way this was ever gonna sail smoothly, and the slow descent into madness was a sight to see.

And it’s really a shame too, in the beginning the two of them were like sisters and had a wholesome relationship, and it was also funny how Metry looked exactly like her sons and even made similar expressions. And of course there’s Eiji being brothers with the twins, I had a feeling Reiko was talking out her ass when we got to that part about her giving birth to a son herself, but poor Eiji man, he got rejected by Dali at this reveal and now he’s on a warpath as he himself killed Reiko and is now burning the house down, so I guess he ultimately became a villain after all whether he meant to kill Metry or not. These last two episodes are gonna be a ride, I think I’ll probably be writing posts for both of them lol.

And lastly the stuff with the dad was quite comedic, man is just dealing with his “daughter’s” pain for an extended amount of time and then suddenly finds out the neighbor’s kid doubled and Karen has had a boyfriend this whole time, and the cherry on top being that his wife was “killed” and is suddenly locked in a room with all these kids. Talk about a rough night lol, this show is a thing of beauty.

This is my second time watching this episode.

The first time I watch the series I watched it with Japanese audio and subtitles. This time I am watching it with English dubbing

I feel like the English voice acting in this episode is the lowest thus far in terms of dub voice acting quality when I recall the Japanese voice acting was much better around this point in the series.

This episodes scenarios at times make me feel a little bit uncomfortable, though there are some brilliant moments in this episode. I recall Karen Ichijou's over acting to be particularly hilarious with the Japanese audio.
