Is Hajun speaking Korean here? I know that he's Korean so I guess he is.
In moments like these I'm really thankful to my parents for letting me do what I want and just be myself.
Didn't expect Anne to be trans (or actually non-binary, from what I've read).
Is there any corporation irl that actually values blood relation that much though? I know that there are family-owned business, but does the child being adopted or not matter at all? Either way, this was messed up.
It was cool to learn everyone's traumas. Good episode.

GOD!!! I love Battle Pride in terms of what happens and if I cried with that voice drama, I cry again seeing it adapted into the anime :'v

Ryuu makes crazy preparations and Yohei and Shiki are his victims in his tests XD

And well, in the Pride voice drama, Hajun indirectly caused the creation of TCW's 4 Real but in the anime it happens after presenting that song (It's confusing and I'm still angry that they ignored the Justice TCW vs AKYR battle)

The rest is just like what happened with the voice drama of Battle Pride in the BAE part because from here Hajun's development begins for this season (Anne's is left for the 2nd season)

BAE is the team with family problems and having shitty parents. The ones with Allen denying and believing that what they say is the best, Anne with a toxic mother and Hajun received the worst part (the sad thing is that Hajun in phase 1, was never able to overcome his trauma until a certain event occurs to him that I will cry again)

And we know that Anne is a man, technically Anne is Non-Binary according to the official ParaLive accounts, Anne doesn't care and in the BANG song in Anne's part this is made very clear

"Boy or girl, does it matter?
F*ck da borderline
I gotta right to be me
AnZ, that's my ID"

According to official information, Anne likes to dress feminine but he is the manliest of the team and is loved for who Anne is, a fashionable person with the best fashion sense (there's a reason why Anne has a fashion business in real life called Swank)

Seeing the baby who is Hajun's half brother.....It doesn't hurt me...it burns HURTS ME!!! (Those of us who are up to date with ParaLive in voice drama know what I mean)

I have absolutely loved this episode.
Don't have any knowledge of the sound dramas, only listened to the songs so I cannot compare if they followed the original material to the letter.
However, I really did cry by the end and just loved the story. Not really sure if it was because of it being a drama episode without following the sameish formula that the previous episodes had or because the subject matter really resonated with me, especially with Hajun's trauma and abandonment issues which I am facing myself at this point in time.

Love where the show is going and hope it stays that way to the end.

Thank you so much Santa! Merry Christmas & a wonderful new year!

I thought the weird boy told Hajun that he had a small dick lol.
Jokes aside, this episode was very interesting, with a family like that, who needs enemies? u.u

I always watch idol anime not expecting anything because they always do the bare minimum, but man, this one actually does give a fuck about developing its characters without reducing them to walking tropes.
Loved this episode.

I’m not really into Idol shows and I didn’t realize it was a drama until I read some comments and looked it up on YouTube. I think it’s pretty interesting so far. I’m enjoying the drama and the supernatural vibe.

Interesting, instead of being an AkanYatsura episode, this episode chooses to rediscover BAE. And also addressing trauma. (Almost) everyone in this anime has trauma, and the majority of trauma are reflected through trap reaction.

I also notice that ParaLive obviously choose to use the word "Hip-hop" instead of "Rap" so that it'll make a difference from HypMic.

With the way they've been rearanging some other events from other sources (which imo a good director should definitely consider), I wouldn't say just yet that they won't cover that battle, maybe they'll include it in the next 2 episodes since it seems they'll be AKYR themed.

Instead of a Rap Battle, we got a "Worst Parents Battle" today. Interesting to see how they all share a similar trauma. And it was pretty emotional too!

Personally a really weak episode as the whole "conflict" moment where Hajun got angry felt really stiff/unnatural; he was picking a fight and literally had a fuck around and find out moment and it's like ???

I get why the moment happened though, now BAE's closer and stronger than ever and it'll show in their music or something.
If Allen knows where his coffee beans are, does he know where Hajun hides his stash?

Will say, my throat did close a little when he said thank you in Korean instead of Japanese--with the honorifics and all.

P.S. I wonder if BAE is supposed to be HipHop Before All Else

I almost started laughing with Allen's flashback from his narration since he seemed to care more about his parent's distaste for music he likes and not supporting him making that kind of music than the fact they outright said they had him for selfish reasons of vicariously living through him or their lack of respect for personal property of his. Yes they are shitty parents but it didnt seem presented well by what he was saying versus what we were shown.

Anne's also felt poorly presented. Since assuming Anne is biologically male there how is this mother "toxic"from what we were shown if Anne didnt even speak up? Is the mother supposed to be telepathic? How would she even know what Anne wants if not told? Was that just some bullshit translation the subbers added or is it a particularly bad case of telling instead of showing? Even with the telling it came off unclear if you dont have any outside knowledge about Anne. It isnt even clear on what Anne is from that scene. A trans girl, a crossdressing male or a female that was being made to be a boy for her mother's neediness after having her husband leave? Even people in this thread that are looking into it dont seem to know, all saying different things.

Hajun's parents are extra dickish.

@traed In regards to Anne, Avex has been keeping their gender vague the whole time. They've even changed Anne's taglines on the official site a couple of times too. They went from otokonoko to unrestrained by gender.

To me, it seems like it's more up to interpretation and that Anne doesn't give a damn as long as you're respecting them. I personally use he/they pronouns, but a lot of people use they/them. Some people headcanon them as trans/NB and some people headcanon them as a GNC male.

This stuff was cutout, but in the very first drama track, Anne gets confronted by guys for wanting to use the men's restroom and makes a comment about how there are still idiots who don't know them (meaning they just assume they're a woman based on appearance) and plays into it to mess with them. And it's even mentioned by a few of the other characters that they're a guy.

I think the EN fan account does a nice job of explaining Anne's taglines: https://twitter.com/paradoxlive_EN/status/1709728346316095671

As for how it was shown, this is how it is in the specific drama track it was from. I think we're supposed to assume that they've tried and their mother just refuses to let them be who they want to be or that she's your typical short hair = boy, long hair = girl type of parent. She wants them to be her prince who will keep her from being lonely and obsesses over it. Anne seems to be too afraid to speak up, but I think them speaking up would've been a nice change from the tracks since they've added other things into the anime that weren't originally there or are shown a lot earlier. I also think this particular part could've benefited from at least mentioning more about Anne beforehand, even if the original tracks are still vague. Having the confrontation would've helped.

@StarJem
Maybe they changed it because otokonoko is more an anime specific term at most only used by cosplayers and since Paradox Live has it so people can interact with characters I could see why terms real people use would make more sense. I assume over time terminologies were learned then addopted. I dont know what the term would be exactly in Japanese since the English description doesnt match any Japanese terms i can find. Japanese people have it easier where this doesnt matter so much to talk about a character because they dont really use gendered pronouns like us English speakers where ambiguity creates awkward language patterns of talking about Anne by name only or the use of singular-they excessively which can feel awkwardly used in both cases. One aspect of English i dont like even as a native speaker.

Possible terms include but probably not limited to:

Hm I see I see.

There's no way people are saying Anne is trans. She was forced to be a boy after her dad left. She did not choose to be a boy, that was the mom forcing her to do it. On another note, this episode dragged on for too long.

Emotionally charged episode when BAE finally getting to know each other and making themselves vulnerable, everyone with the awful parents wow.

@cooldogmom Anne is biologically male, whether they're trans or not is unclear. The official side labels them as "third gender" (idk what that means), and it's stated that they just don't care about gender labels. It's also stated that Anne happens to wear female clothes due to looks and not due to identifying as a woman.

Anne and Allen kept talking to the doors, believing that Hajun listens to them, and what if he would be actually asleep? xD

HOW did Youhei teleport there? HOW Anna happened to have 2 cups of coffee suddenly while joining Allen? So many hidden stories in unanimated scenes in this episode xD Bigest mystery than Buraikan.

@traed but does it really matter? the whole anne thing about whatever their gender is? it's not needed for us to understand how anne's mother is toxic. it's about a parent wanting anne to be something they're not. she wants anne to be a prince and that's not who anne is. that alone is enough for trauma.
it actually brings an interesting point if you think about trauma making more trauma. if anne's father left her, what she's doing with anne derives from her own trauma and everybody gets hurt.
a lot like real lives and family dynamics.

again (because last episode brought me the same feels), this anime seems to talk a lot about found families and that resonates a lot with me. i came for the good looking guys, but the story is a lot better than i expected.
