Yes.
Unless you're cheering for Lady Satsuki, in that case there's no problem. Maybe.

Shonen it's a target and applies only on a Manga.

Could be. I feel like the more shonen I read/watch, the more I crave complexity in stories, until I get sick of complexies and go back to basic shonen again lol.

its a parody of shonen of sorts.

obviously you wont like it if you grew tired of shonen overall. but if you like shonen and acknowledge that its not perfect and that its over the top it should be an enjoyable watch

Lmao thats exactly my experience. I think I only started to cheer for her once they've beaten the shit out of her enough times so that she stopped being stupid

You guys do realize there’s different types of shonen right? There’s stuff like Hunter X Hunter on one side and Fairy Tail on the other. They can be really simple, dumb fun or really complex and smartly written.

Exactly, the word people are looking for is battle series, and Kill la Kill is definitely in the same genre as Dragon Ball and Naruto.

While this is technically true because Shonen is a demographic, Kill la Kill is totally a battle series which is what people incorrectly mean as Shonen.

@Pussyit8
Are you a jerk, no, but I think it would be hard to enjoy a series if you don't like the main character. However, if you like Satsuki, than definitely keep watching.

Everything's relative, but the victories are definitely supposed to feel "shounen"y. The hot blooded and ridiculous aspects of KlK are very much part of the appeal. If it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work - but you haven't noticed anything that wasn't there

It really isn't tho....
Regardless of who you root for or not.... For Shonen Standarts it really ISN'T predictable and/or generally like other Shows of the Genre.
Keep watching.

I know Satsuki is a better character overall, but Ryuko is the reason I love this show and I can relate to her adolescent life growing up and she's my #1 waifu

No. Satsuki Kiryuin, you’re student council president, commands you to root against her. You should be willing to lay down your life for lady Satsuki, not that uncivilized Matoi.

@keinboesewicht It's not a parody of Shonen at all. It borrows some aspects, but it's pretty damn far from Shonen.

Yes, you are the asshole. In the first half of the series Satsuki is portrayed as tyrannical and the potential killer of Ryuko's father. It's obvious who's on the good side....well...keep watching, because there is a twist....

@Mr_Sai First of all, that's the wrong "whether". Second, the show is not targeted at teenagers. It has an older target demographic than stuff like Naruto and DBZ and even Attack on Titan. Shonen is a term for manga that are published by shonen magazines, like Shonen Jump. Not only is KLK an original anime, but due to its content, it would be a seinen if it was published in a magazine. Actually, it DID have a manga adaptation and it WAS published in a seinen magazine - Young Ace.

1: im bad at english so shut up
2: if thats the case then by ur own logic chainsaw man is a seinen too due to its adult themes but it a shounen jump series
3: cowboy bebop is a seinen anime yet the manga is serialized in a shojo magazine so does that make it a shojo aswell?

@Mr_Sai Chainsaw man is actually a very immature series. Cowboy Bebop is an original anime, much like KlK, so there is no objective or definitive shonen/seinen distinction for them. KlK should be placed into the same category as Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Edgerunners and other original anime with an older target demographic and less so with stuff like Chainsaw Man.
