First of all let me just say I'm THRILLED for this anime as a huge Atelier fan! I wish there was more hype.

I've played all 3 Atelier Ryza games and I'm wondering what the anime will cover. I think it's possible to adapt the full first game in 12 episodes.

What do you guys think?

Can't wait for July 2!!

Atelier Ryza is a JRPG; Zelda is more of an adventure series, I think. Crafting is the main mechanic in Atelier. I know it sounds boring but you'd be surprised how addictive and fun it gets.

Plus, the ATB battle system is SO FUN! The combat alone is addictive, too. I enthusiastically recommend this game series to everyone because I think it's underrated

even though ive never played any of the games, the design for the female protagonist definitely stands out, dunno if ill watch it though.. i no longer watch fanservice or ecchi shows if its fun adventure in a cool world an some action here and there, ill consider it

Fanservice is definitely not the main focus even though she's designed to be attractive. Despite appearances, Atelier is a really innocent and wholesome series. It's almost like playing a slice of life/CGDCT anime in a game.

But yeah it's a fun world! The story is about Ryza and her friends growing up in a small town and wanting to go out and have adventures together. Over the years, they age and by the end of Atelier Ryza 3 they're in their 20s. I grew strongly attached to the characters, their development is great. I hope the anime will be a faithful adaptation because I have high expectations.

I did actually know it was an RPG but the thing is, i havent even played or watched any Zelda games either lmaooo.
Also you said all 3 games, which, uh, wikipedia says theres 24 games in the series (and i will always trust wikipedia)

Atelier is a broader franchise consisting of multiple subseries. The Atelier Ryza story is a trilogy spanning 3 games. It's one of the subseries of Atelier. The others are the Arland, Dusk, and Mysterious trilogies.

i only know about the character because she always shows up on videogame directs, seems like that series is getting a lot of games lately, i had no idea what it was about an the only thing i remember about it was the cool an yes very attractive design of the female protagonist, thats no longer enough for me to watch a show though but it seems you know how to get someone interested into watching a show, it sounds like a chill series an i havent seen something like that in a while, also it sounds cool that they grow up, i like when that happens in the series that i watch

I was thinking about trying the first game out but I have like two episodes to attempt to convince me whether I should jump in or not for a change of pace from the usual games that I play but I still have time until the 13th of July to decide.

ATB actually stands for Active Time Battle! Just check out the gameplay before you turn it down. It's a more modern and fast-paced take on turn-based. Playing it doesn't really feel like turn-based. The 3rd game (by far the best installment) has been compared to Xenoblade Chronicles.

Good luck if you plan to play them on Switch! I paid 70€ for the first one on switch because it was very limited here in Europe. And i was lucky, the first one is usually reaching 120-150€ on second hand platforms and people are buying them. People are selling the second one for those 70€ (i was lucky and bought it new for 45€ and the third one once it came out for 59.95)

I have a Ps5. All 3 games base price is 59.99€. Which yea, it's a fair price but I don't want to spend 180€ for the games. So yea I'm just waiting on a sale for them.

Ahh no problem then. Those are widely available even new on PS. If you're in UK buy them on Cex, pretty cheap.

The TV series is titled after the first game so you can freely expect the whole first game to be animated.

Nope they are not which is good for you! however if you enjoy the series i wouldn't expect future installations to be all ATB a big enough amount of old fans hated the ATB system.

Based on Sophie 2 it seems like they will now be doing both ATB and Turn based entries (Thank god)

I hope so i dropped the game due to the combat system having major issues but Ryza 2 and 3 look a lot better in that regard so if i can get the story via the anime and head to 2 and 3

Yeah, the ATB-like combat system in the first Ryza game wasn't to my liking but Gust greatly improved it in the sequels.

Not surprising since it was their first time doing anything like that but if anything they are always super good at trying new things for each series then reinventing it over and over till it's quality
