It looks like even in the next episode Goro will not be cured from the yips. Also it seems like Gibson Jr. having troubles to.

Seems like gibson jr. has the same kinda problem as goro. Their answer/cure will also probably be the same. I hope they will get back to the top soon.

I knew Goro couldn't have been cured yet. And Junior is having some troubles too.

I thought it was really cute when Shimizu blushed at the mention of marriage.

Thank goodness we finally saw some Shimizu, and it was nice to see Momoko and Chiharu again as well. I do like how they pointed out that Goro playing for "fun" isn't going to make him as competitive as he usually is, and so now he's on a search for what he really wants.

Great episode.

Everyone seems to think Goro isn't cured yet, but it seems to me like he's coming back. I mean, how long can the producers have a useless character. Goro has to come back and win the World Series. I may be acting optimistic here, but I'd like to think that he's cured.

Didn't I totally call this last episode? Yep, I totally did.

This episode led me to believe that once Goro talks to Shimizu, he'll find something out. Damn, I really wish we had up to date access to the manga. I wanna read. :(

Do you think it's about something bad with his step-dad? Momoko seemed really intent on telling Goro something about him.

As much as I want Goro to be back in top form blasting through opposing lineups, I've been enjoying the current storyline so far. Whether its still yips or the lack of a new goal to chase after, having him "beat it" and come back so soon would've cheapened everything we've seen thus far this season. So far so good IMO.

Seems like whenever Shimizu gets extended screen time, I end up feeling bad for her. I mean women with husbands, fiancees or boyfriends fighting in wars overseas probably hear from them more often than Shimizu does. I hope vindemon64's right about how things will play out. Maybe he'll appreciate her a bit more.

Yeah it's bothering me too

And i do really really HOPE that baseball idiots will remember he has a girlfriend back in Japan, now i don't want to see some love rival for Goro in Shimizu, but that will make things interesting, i just hope someone remind the baseball idiots about her

Goro and Gibson Jr. are both in a slump I guess.

I really hate seeing Goro like this! grrr >.< why can't he start dominating the majors already! anyway the romance is so lackluster and I really think Shimizu should leave this guy. well atleast until hes ready himself to have a gf otherwise she's just forgotten all the time, its annoying.

This leads me to think his new goal could be to take care of Shimizu.
Or maybe just think about the fans and other people that admire him, and dream about becoming as great as him.

That kind of came with the territory and she knew what she was getting into when she accepted . . . I mean no shit a 19 year old rookie trying to make it into the major leagues in America isn't going to be around too much for his girl friend back in Japan. With both practice / rest rather important, it is kind of hard to even manage calls, do keep in mind they are in COMPLETELY different time zones. The amount of overlapping time they would have within any reasonable day would be like 4-6 hours, and that is assuming that those 4-6 hours don't fall on practice / training / game time.

Anyways, kind of hoping he finds some motivation too, although it seems that Gibson Jr. is struggling as well. Why can't his motivation be competing against his new rival, Gibson Jr.?

The answer Gorou desperately searches for, I wonder if it's worthwhile. He better find something satisfying for us, too.

As for Gibson Jr, he could stay in slump until the end of his life, I wouldn't give a damn seriously. He is a waste of screen time.

Junior is having some trouble too. No doubt also because of his father.

I agree and his case is actually similiar to Goro's, with one exception. Junior did manage to find a new goal but that goal is slacking off.

The one that's a waste of screen time is Shimizu to be honest, Junior is essential.

Those two both had the goals of fighting Gibson.. and judging from the op, Gibson will come back, most likely after noticing what's up with these two.

Momoko probably just wanted to tell him that he's flying over to America, though I admit I wouldn't be surprised if he died or something.

Goro is still looking for a new reason to play.
Junior has some problems too.

Since Gorou is in Indianapolis (Eastern Time Zone) and it's summer, you convert Japan time by inverting the meridiem (so A.M. becomes P.M. and vice versa) and adding one hour. So at midnight in Gorou's timezone it's 1:00 P.M. in Japan, and at noon in Gorou's timezone it's 1:00 A.M. in Japan.

Assuming that from midnight to 8:00 A.M. is generally off limits for both, they should still have eight hours each day that they could potentially talk. There would be three hours in Gorou's morning/Shimizu's evening (8:00 to 11:00 A.M. Gorou's time; 9:00 P.M. to midnight Shimizu's time), and five hours in Gorou's evening/Shimizu's morning (7:00 P.M. to midnight Gorou's time; 8:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Shimizu's time). The sweet spot on most days would likely be 9:00 to 10:00 P.M. Gorou's time (10:00 to 11:00 A.M Shimizu's time), which is probably when Momoko called in this episode.

So nah, there's plenty of time each day that Gorou could talk to Shimizu if he really wanted to. Yes, he's busy, but the busiest part of most days for him is when Shimizu should either be asleep or depriving herself of sleep to watch a game. The problem is Gorou not wanting to talk. While it's one thing to not like getting on the phone much, I have to agree that he should call at least once in awhile. Would it really kill him to call at least once a week?

Anyone who would say "yes" to that question has no business being in a relationship as far as I'm concerned. That's just too selfish for a healthy relationship. Busy or not, Shimizu has every right to expect more from Gorou, and does not in any way make her "needy". Gorou may be great at baseball, but he genuinely sucks at romance. I feel bad for Shimizu in that regard.

Yes, it's understandable for him to perhaps not call in this specific situation since he's confronting the Yips and might not want to talk about that, but this is something Gorou does regardless of what's going on.

Romance aside, it seems the solution to Gorou's Yips is more simple than I thought if it really is just finding a new goal. I guess I was reading into it too much in the last episode discussion. Hopefully he'll find some other goal to drive him soon.

Silly Goro, besides fame and riches there is like one other obvious goal which totally fits him and was like the whole main premise of season 3:

The challenge of beating strong players (in particular Gibson Jr.) and win the match!
