| Scissor Seven is finally back! The animation continues to amaze and keeping in line with the latter half of season 3, the series is getting much darker with much less comedy and more of a focus on the plot. The fight between Seven and Blackbird was pretty epic, with Seven showing off a few new techniques from his sword and using its abilities in a variety of clever ways. It also appears that it may have some sealing abilities as well. Blackbird's backstory was unexpected, but it did a good job providing him some depth for the fight. The OP was decent, though in my opinion it lacked the creativity that the previous 3 OPs had aside from a few key moments, and felt more like a normal anime OP than it did a Scissor Seven OP. Then again, this OP was longer than the previous ones and this season is much darker and plot driven, so I guess it would make sense to change the tone and style of the OP to better fit the season. Perhaps the OP will come around to me after a few weeks, but as of now, both visually and musically, it's my least favorite of the Scissor Seven OPs. The ED is very cute, just like the previous EDs. Baby Thirteen is the most precious anime character of all time. For those who were gonna ask "where did you watch it/where can I watch it", it's currently on Bilibili and Youtube in Chinese. It won't be on Netflix for another few months. Please don't ask in the thread. |

| Oh yeah baby here we go finally watching season 4 after all this time! We pick up right where we left off with the Blackbird fight, with Seven taking over the fight after Thirteen. And it looks like the old Seven has awakened with the way he's fighting. Maybe not fully, but at least partially, because there's no way this Seven would've lost to someone like... Captain Jack, for example, LOL. Anyway, looks like the animation went up a level. They always made due with the action despite not being the most flashy, but with cool choreography. Now it's more of both. Action looked sick. But honestly I'm not here for the action- I just hope we get some more questions answered. We know the gist of it, but I wanna delve deeper into Seven's past and what made him an outcast. And also what the deal is with Green Pheonix, which it looks like we'll know a lot more in the next episode. And speaking of episodes, these ones look like they're going to be shorter than usual. Seasons 1 and 2 had like 15 minute episodes (like total, with opening and ending and everything, Season 3 had longer ones at closer to 20 minutes, but these ones seem to be like only 13 minutes- so like 10 minutes realistically, or actually less since netflix has those end credits stuff. If I'm not mistaken, was this originally released as a movie? That's what the announcement said at the end of season 3 anyway. Maybe it would work better in that format, but it's okay, no big deal. I like the new ed, it fits the vibes well, but nothing beats season 3's ed. As for the humor which I love, it can be here still sure, but I hope the focus is really on learning more about Seven and his backstory. Some people don't wanna bother with backstory, but in this case, I am just dying to know more. So yeah, here finally at season 4, phew. Honestly going to need a breather. Just feels rather surreal watching the next season of one of my favourite series. |
