I was talking with a friend about samurai animes and he recommanded this one. He said it was really good but the thing is that I had planned to read the manga version. So should I read the manga or watch the anime?

Manga only cause the anime doesn’t really cover 100% of the content

Manga.

The original Anime had a lot of fillers , while also altering Canon content , such as the characters...
As for this Remake , it's way more faithful , but it's really rushed. (207 Chapters in 24 Episodes...)

Also , if you want to watch a Samurai Animes (It's often better to look for Mangas in this case) , i'd suggest you Rurouni Kenshin & Saraiya Goyou , or Afro Samurai if you prefer Movies.

The original source is always better, BUT, the anime adaptation is so wonderful to me. The OST by Eiko Ishibashi is just from another world

Anime is a complete adaptation and most of all, completely uncensored, so you'll see every gory detail.

The anime is a good adaptation from what I’ve watched and read so far (10 volumes versus 9 episodes). For an anime that covers a 30 volume manga in only 24 episodes, it is impressive that it is so faithful so far. It is also a visual marvel. That being said, it is definitely streamlined. While this doesn’t not harm the narrative that much, you get attached more to the characters in the manga. The worst part of the pacing of the anime is how the characters don’t feel as lively because of how tight it is. However, it isn’t a deal breaker and the characters are still good in this adaptation.
If you want the best experience, read the manga and as you read it, watch the anime. It’s roughly a volume per episode. However, the anime is also adequate. I initially watched only the anime, but felt very confused by episode 3. Episode 3 is the only episode they actively messed up; If you’re going to read the manga at all, read the manga equivalent to episode 3 (volume 3), but at that point you might as well just read the manga as a whole alongside the anime.
Basically, anime is great. Manga is better. Manga also has some great art with a distinctive sketchy quality that the anime doesn’t really capture.

Nope, the Anime adaptation is just Garbage

If only you did not have any problem with Tokyo Ghoul and Berserk (2016) Anime then probably this is for you

You are confusing  volume with chapter.

Naw, the adaptation is really fast so it corresponds by volume better than chapter count.
