That scene with Casca and Guts on the cliff "Bonfire of Dreams" was amazingly done! Can't wait to see how will they adapt this crazy battle!

oh the bonfire of dreams that we've been finally waiting. i was expecting it the way 1997 adapt that part but they cut bunch of parts and griffith appearing in the hundred man slayer which is the same in the movie and wasn't actually in the manga, i think there was no point of adding him again in the bonfire of dreams.

not to mention... that scene was beautifully made, thanks to that and i have new wallpaper now.

Damn, the bonfire of dreams scene certainly didn't disappoint despite all the hype! I really like how they took their time with it, put in great animation and detail and kept most of the dialogues from the manga intact. Susumu Hirosawa's new OST just added to the magical ambience of the scene. I really really loved how the studio executed it. The scene with Judeau and Casca was great too, more Judeau is always welcome. The rest of the episode was a big improvement on the movie footage with the change from 3D to 2D. Just really good stuff.

I hope there will be more extended or new scenes to be adapted in the next few episodes. I wish they did that with the first movie as well, but whatever.

I totally agree with you. I loved the 1997 because of the emotion. I felt like the movies highlighted the action more and didn’t capture the feeling.

Still looked like 3D to me... Maybe better on the faces, but still Guts' walk from the tree was weird. He's hurt but no need to make him walk, curbed like an old man. I just wish that we'll have good 2D animation added to the third and last part without breaking the pacing (because I remember the 3rd movie as almost perfect)...

PS: I'm not hating on the trilogy, I defend it everytime someone says the CGI was shit (at least not at the time, and it had great ideas especially with the sword when Guts cuts knights armors), I still think Studio 4C handled it the best way possible... (apart from kicking Wyald from the screen, and not continuing with the Lost Children like the productor wanted, I still wish the countdown is for its announcement)

Loved the Bonfire of Dreams, it was worth the wait <3

I hope it's not the only new thing in this memorial edition, because expansions like this for the movies are very welcomed.

The Bonfire of dreams finally made it's way into this adaptation and it's amazing. This episode has the best pacing out of all of them. It flows nicely from the previous one and gives enough action at the beginning and ending, so you anticipate upcoming episodes. Music, as always, gives me chills.

The first half was just amazing. When I saw Puck I was excited, but when they showed Schierke and the Berserker armour in the op I was just so hyped.Does this mean what I think it means;a new adaptation?!Hopefully so, because that would make all Berserk fans very happy! And the Bonfire of Dreams was beautiful too.

Nvm the op had them already,I was dumb.

Even the janky CGI can't stop the story from being amazing. Tbh though, it did look good at times so credit where it is due.

This episode had the most new content and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think it's the best episode so far in terms of building up hype and character development. Also we got another Susumu Hirasawa banger which I was not expecting but was well placed. Though I fear after this episode, not much else new content will be added but hopefully I'm wrong on that.

Bonfire of dreams, at last! This scene was done beautifully in every aspect. Mixing great visuals with good direction and marvelous music by Susumu Hirasawa resulted in really fantastic scene.

Since no one going to say it, I will. Considering this was the "selling point" of this edition... it turn out average at best. Can't even do one of the most iconic scenes right. "The scene was perfection". Yeah, right! Guts walking down the hill was perfectly done, no issues there at all. People obviously learned nothing from Berserk 2016. I'm sure if the same studio continue doing "justice" to Berserk, absolutely nothing can't go wrong. Oh well... since I'm in clear minority, pay no attention to this post. Continue praising...

For me, the "bonfire of dreams" scene was... decent.

I'm happy that they decided to animate this scene at all (even though I strongly believe it shouldn't have been cut in the first place). It's a great scene in the manga to begin with, and it's a faithful enough adaptation so that the writing does shine through. The scene plays out well, with good pacing, voice acting, background art, and interesting music.

However, this scene did not hit as hard for me as I thought it would. The scene looked fully CGI, in contrast with the previously-existing scenes which used both hand-drawn animation and CGI. I think this made the character acting and expressions a little stiff. They did not do much creatively to compensate, possibly by adding little gestures or adding more detail in the setting, for example.

I actually thought the use of CGI in the scenes from the movies has been pretty good so far. But knowing that this scene was created this year, I am now slightly concerned with whatever Berserk anime adaptation will be worked on next...

Guts... He killed all those guys by himself.
The flame of one's soul... So deep...
? I think I missed something... What did she notice when he stood up and walked away?
Griffiths... what a chad.
I'm loving the battle scenes, it really feels like watching a proper movie.

Guts seems to be thinking deeply about how his lack of a dream compares to the dreams of those around him. Griffith really hit him deeply.

I was wondering, why I like so much these fights! They feel so inspiring, yet they only illustrate war and slaughter, something despicable. If I was to live in war, I would have felt only anger about the fighters and their leaders.

But when I think about it, my admiration does not stem from enjoying war or violence, but from enjoying life. When I watch these men fighting, I see in every one of them the desire to thrive and the force of life that mocks death. Even when they die, it feels as if something in them prevailed over death.

Although the feat that Guts defeated 100 men by himself is impressive, what I found more impressive was how he was able to maintain control of the heavy sword to be able to block arrows, deflect airborne weapons back at the enemy, and maintain his endurance for the entire time. He surely is starting to look like a true berserker
