It's almost phenomenal that they managed to create such a depth of emotions without any extremely disturbing visuals. It is often seen in most anime that to create a feeling of attachment or support to the characters, they are often put into extremely uncomfortable situations with very disturbing visuals, so much so that you wouldn't be able to watch them with younger kids. But this anime has not once used such a basic trope and yet achieved an amazing sense of attachment to the characters.

As someone who was about to give up on episode 3 of the first season, i can't tell you how overjoyed i am that i continued to watch it to the end.

Agreed. It's definitely a top tier show and greatly underrated. Maybe people found it boring but I like the character development a ton.

Try reading the novel it’s really really good. Especially if you want to know what true wholesome heart breaking is.

I caught up on Ascendance of Bookworm recently and then immediately starting reading Mushoku Tensei. It was a shock to the system as I went for very wholesome but occasionally sad to very gruesome and sexual with some quite sad moments. I really like Mushoku Tensei but it took at least a whole book to get into that change of tempo.

One of the things I like about the show is how you know who uses shampoo, because their hair has a sheen. I appreciate the small details.

I'd love to read the novels, but i don't think i have that imaginative power, i don't feel that immersed into the story without visuals.

if i could read novels, I'd have finished so much by now sao, mushoku tensei, ascendance of a bookworm, shield hero, slime. etc.

The whole point about books is you don’t have to imagine because they’ve told you what to think. I’m confused. Have you never read something before?

well, you would have to picture the events in your head right? That's not easy for me, also whatever manga I've read till date are also the ones I've read over a long long time because I'm a slow reader.

i know it sounds crazy, but I'm just like that for some reason, haha. Maybe I'm just a lazy potato.

Have you ever tried to read the preview version of this light novel? Maybe you could spend 5 minutes trying to read the next story after the season 3 ended (the setting is precisely after Rozemyne arrived at Noble section). Apparently J novel club provides preview of each LN books of bookworm series, so it is possible to read 1/8 part of each book for free without signing up or doing other necessary actions like giving credit card info like other trial services.

To convince you, I was also a lazy reader. I didn't like to read novel but that changed after I tried to read previews from Jnovel lol. I straight up bought all the book and ended read all bookworm LN up to most recent English published book. That was also my first time spending bucks on a novel. So maybe you can give it a shot here Read Ascendance of a Bookworm: Part 3 Volume 1 Part 1 | J-Novel Club

I agree that reading needs much effort compared to just watching, but in my case it's really paid off for this work XD. If you find reading this work is not worth your effort, time, and money then it's completely fine because each has own personal taste and skill.
