Hi everyone,

Tsuki Ga Kirei remains one of my favourite anime to date and I was hoping to inquire if the community knew of similar series. I've gone through most of MAL's list of Recommendations - Just Because! and Horimiya are also series that I really like. Bonus if it's available in English dub (which I tend to prefer over subbed). I'm okay with movies too.

The school romance genre just seems to be something that appeals to me. Problem is I find that most nowadays tend to be romance with a bit of an emphasis on comedy, and I don't enjoy those types quite as much.

Thanks!

Wow, Tsuki ga kirei, Just Because and Horimiya are my favourite SoL animes too! If you liked these animes, then you should probably try Sounds of Life. The story follows a highschool Koto club (Koto is a traditional Japanese instrument). The story of this anime is very realistic, and you can actually reason with the decisions that the characters make. The romance in this anime is so sweet and real. And the koto music is just godly. Please try this one out.

Give Chihayafuru a try. There are 3 seasons and it’s such a great story. There’s a dub version too.

I saw the first five or so episodes of the first season, as a gaming friend recommended it to me, and it really didn’t pull me in. Might have to give this one a try again if it’s name is poping up here too.

Appreciate it!

That’s a common sentiment I hear for the earlier parts of the first season. If you can get past that it should really pull you in.

Yeah, and sadly, that's why I didn't get very far into Chihayafuru to begin with. The game itself just wasn't terribly interesting to me. Which is a shame because it looks good and I'm a huge fan of Luci Christian (the lead VO actress).

Yup, someone above suggested Sounds of Life.
Added Convenience Store Boy Friends, though the low rating on MAL kind of worries me.
Watched Tonikawa already and hyped for the second season!
Nisekoi... I recall picking this up a while ago, and passing because it seemed kind of on the silly side?
What makes Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions! so good? Or maybe memorable? Because I swear people left and right were giving this attention a few years after it aired. Not that I'm doubting it's good... I'm just curious why people are drawn to it so much?
Blue Spring Ride's been on my list a while and got bumped down in priority a bit because it doesn't have a dub. Will definitely consider it again though.

I tried so hard to like Saekano but I just couldn't get through more than a few episodes. It was way too silly for my liking with a story that I wasn't drawn to. I'm sorry!
Funny story about Fruits Baskets... my fiancé reminded me that we apparently talked about watching this a while ago because it was stupid popular... and then never did. So it's on my list (again) now.
Golden Time I got a few episodes in and didn't really care for the story.
How much of My Teen Romantic Comedy Snafu is comedy driven? Because that genre really doesn't drive me much, sadly.

A lot of Oregairu is comedy driven but it’s mainly the first season. Season 2 and season are all Romance and Drama with light (but very hilarious comedy) in between. It’s the only series that I’ve purchased the entire collection (LNs, Manga, OVAs) and I’ve watched seen some good anime but nothing like this one.

Our love has always been 10cm apart
Mashiro-Iro Symphony
Say I love you
Wolf Girl and Black Prince
My Love story
Ano Natsu de Materu
Amagami SS and SS+
Taisho Otome Fairytale (very sweet, but not school romance anime)
ToniKawa (Sweet but also not school romance)

Oregairu. 99% how to deal with society. 1% romance. Kidding, but don’t get coped with the Title.

Also, Josei, Tiger and the Fish.

I have Josee, the Tiger and the Fish on my list, but I don't think it's available on any legal platform over here.

Added Tada Never Falls in Love!
Mashiroiro Symphony looks so strange, but I'll add it too!
Say I Love I have seen and was a big fan of the story.
Wolf Girl and Black Prince looks like Say I Love You, visually. xD
Seen My Love Story. Huge fan of Tia Ballard so I had to watch it.
Added Waiting in the Summer!
Amagami's apparently only on Hidive, but I'll keep it in mind, just in case.
Seen Tonikawa, big fan.
