Does this anime ever get dark and serious?

Then again, I had the show described to me as “vomit-inducing” and “the most disturbing anime you’ll ever watch,” so I probably just ended up going in with unrealistic expectations.

Regardless, yes, if you’re at episode 9 you’re right at the point where it’ll begin to get darker and have some gore and stuff like that.
