Could bondrewd be considered as an anti-villain?he is working towards the progress of humanity after all.

if you talk about killing children,even itachi killed children but still is considered to be an anti-villain.

defo not like Orochimaru, Orochimaru did it for himself to achieve the most perfect body and probably being immortal or wtv.

Bondrewd was doing experiments for the sake of knowledge and while doing so better his own body to live for longer to experiment for longer.

bondrewd is just as bad if not worse than Orochimaru, buuuuut one could argue that Orochimaru is just wrong on what is wrong cause his fucking around for his own sake. bondrewd is doing it for the sake of science

He’s an extreme version of Riko. They both want answers about the abyss, but Riko would draw the line at finding out at the cost of other people’s lives where Bondrewd doesn’t. I’d say it’s unhelpful to split everything into hero, anti-hero, villain and anti-villain because some characters go beyond that surface-level depth.

I heavily disagree. It was obviously implied he’s doing it for the sake of humanity. As twisted as he is, he’s a very selfless character going as far as to sacrificing his body for humanity. Ofc I’d he is selfish as well, to an extent atleast. It’s one of his main themes/conflicts; selfishness vs selflessness.

He is doing it actually for humanity, unless manga readers know something we don’t, so he’s the epitome of anti-villain.

Hmm it would have been closer to the truth if he didn’t tell nanachi that his defeat only meant that their curiosity and desire surpassed his own.(dont remember the quote correctly).

That is very difficult to say because from the manga I get more of the impression that he doesn’t care about himself as long as someone takes over his work and continues pursuing the truth of the abyss.

He doesn't seem selfless to me. Why? He sacrifised his daughter and countless of other children for an immortal body so he could travel between the layers. He forced Nanachi to do cartridges that gave them PSTD. He tortured Mitty who couldn't defense.. Should I continue? I am a scientist too, and I'm kinda sad that scientists are always shown as crazy psychopath who do crimes "for science".

I mean ,the only purpose of prushka was to make bondrewd "blessed" ,he gave a purpose to her when she lost all hope.

and he didn't torture mitty cause he wanted her to feel bad,he was just seeing how she would react.
he just has transcended to a different level of morality than what is generally considered by the society.

itachi sacrificed his entire clan including his parents.

and most of the children he sacrificed had no clear purpose in life anyway,no one wanted them, atleast he gave them a purpose and showed them love.

His goals were for well-being of humanity and science.
But his way of executing it was evil from a sane person's perspective. Which Bondrewd definitely isn't.
He did loved his experimented children unconditionally but... in a twisted away.

Agreed, he is twisted af with his messed up ways. I will never like him. He's a god-tier antagonist in this show for me.
