A really good mix of humor, action and plot. Really interesting cast of characters with a good alchemy between them.

Just watched the season 1 so can’t say much for the other two

Absolutely my favorite ongoing series right now! I will say that the manga is significantly better, because theres a lot of historical context to learn and the timing of the humor lends itself better. Surprisingly good writing, some of the best I've seen. Definitely not for everyone, but for those who do it's amazing

Large and memorable cast plus fun historical setting. It has a mix of everything even cooking. I agree with comparisons to FMAB. Animation and soundtrack are average but characters and story make it a recommend

Funny as fuck. Also the story is interesting. Animation is good but not top tier. Only complaint about the animation is the janky cgi bears in season 1.

It's the funniest anime I've ever seen, but it balances. There is also some good action and political inttrigue, and some good feels. The cast is huge, but everyone is interesting.

It's pretty good, but it's not for everyone. I would advise you to watch until the end of the first season and see if you can get into it, if you like it, it will probably be one of your favorite series.

also there's a horrible cgi bear in the first episodes, don't get discouraged by that, it only appears during those episodes and doesn't represent the overall
quality of the animation.

This literally in my top 5 favorite. It has great dark humour,action and character development and analysis. I love the plot but it is what the characters that really drive the whole story. It is full of surprises and unexpected scenes which is entertaining. This is very binge worthy. It gets better as you watch. I also learned so much too which is so fun. The manga is a better because it explains a bit more but overall anime is great. I animation is good but could be better. I still watched it

I have very much enjoyed all 3 seasons. It has some gore elements from what creepy things they show at times, but overall it's a crazy good historical anime. One of the things I find to be the most entertaining is that they flip traditional sexualization tropes on their head, but I'll let you experience that for yourself as it's rather hilarious to watch.

Are you familiar with 19th century American history?
Take that and replace Americans with Japanese, Mexicans with Russians, Native Americans with the Ainu and the California gold rush with whatever's going on in Hokkaido and you basically have this anime.

Season 1 has a few unfortunate flaws. But the later seasons are truly fantastic. I highly reccomend it. I think its the perfect blend of serious story stuff to lighthearted humorous shit.

He died doing what he wanted, no matter what, right? I bet he was happy.

Pretty boring and predictable. It can't be serious enough since its plot a second-tier "let's find gold" with personal motives of level "how about get some money and revenge?" but it also can't be humorous enough because it's trying so hard to be something special when it's not. Every second anime in early 2000s was like that but was more balanced than this one with one-dimensional characters.
