Heh, I think Nozomi got a bit too excited for her match and soccer this episode. Too much.
Not bad for the variety of plays in the game. Funny how they threw in some comedic segments between a few of the players as usual. The male coach, Eiken is still hilarious. I like Nozomi's overall enthuaism this episode though.
From the way that Coach Nomi is stringent on the results of the Warabi Seinan girls delivering a slipshod 1st match of the tournament phase (albeit still feeling sloppy), it sure didn't pan out so well with Nomi's anger.
Good uniforms that are of English influence, and the comeback of Nozomi having been put on the sideline into playing her 1st official match with high-flying enthusiasm levels...to becoming sleep-deprived, and being spat and mocked on by Suo and Aya (with a chuckle), Nozomi is a lost cause that contributed to an embarrassing loss.
Of course, anything to entice the boys' soccer Coach Asuka is a must to give the girls' soccer some leeway for practice. Seriously though, Nozomi's spirit never dies off or on the soccer court, she keeps pushing herself to the limit.
No more losing, only winning is the top priority if the Warabi Seinan girls' soccer team are to go further.
Okay... they end up with a decent kit that is not too flashy and is simple for the Soccer's standard. The coach is a bit disappointed tho, after all, she spent so much time designing them. LOL
Nozomi is really fired up for her first match as expected. Too fired up as she wakes up in the middle of the night just to adore her new kit. LMAO, So, she ended up being sleep-deprived on the game day. Too much excitement can be quite awful sometimes.
Nozomi got quite a lecture from the coach. They ended up losing their first game but didn't forget to put those funny moments between them like Nozomi sleeping when everyone's lecturing her and Gorou Sensei trying to convince Asuka Sensei with a photo of the teacher he loves. LOL
Nozomi sensei doesn't know how to defend, which is a problem for the team's defense, now that their offense is doing great. There must be a reason why Gorou Sensei doesn't give a shit at all. Everyone seemed really pumped up for their upcoming matches.
Poor Onda, she got too excited. She was practically glowing in the night but unfortunately she lost all her sleep and was far too sleep deprived to play the game.
Truth be told, I just thought she forgot to cover the attacker and they got a free shot on goal, never in a million year did I think the way they lost was because Onda ended up scoring an own goal. with a diving header nonetheless. XD
Hopefully she'll bounce back in the second game after getting a good night's sleep before the game.
I'm very curious about Gorou, he definitely acts like he doesn't care about what happens to the team and barely takes part in instructing the girls during practice or games but why does he stick around then? There's definitely some story there that I'm curious to hear, my guess is that he used to practice them hard before and something happened because of it so let's see.
Interesting that Naomi doesn't know anything about defense. I laughed when she admitted it herself. xD
I really liked how this episode was constructed, and how the first half really showed the team talking about the game that just took place, what went wrong and all that. Really good stuff here. Those kits too lmao.
Why you need Juventus or Barcelona colors when you can get the white one like England or Real Madrid.
Onda messed everything up in her first official match with her poor performance, refusing to be substituted, and, finally, an own goal. That's a lot for her in one single match, especially for the one who wants to be a professional player. It was a bad bad day for her, I wish she will come back on track as soon as possible and bring the first victory to Warabi.
Coach Noumi doesn't know how to defend because she is a forward. Warabi needs someone like defends coach and goalkeeping coach to help her as an assitant and forming a coaching team.
Well...not sleeping before an imortant game is...I think no words needed. Totally understandable putting her on to bench after such a performance. Every coach would do that.
Who needs def anyway? Bayern shows us that you just have to score more than the others. That's the way how you win titles... or would you really prefer Catenaccio style?!
Yeah, boys from soccer team appear again, and since all three of them are Onda's childhood friends, I smell reverse harem here ;) Though I want to keep all the boy to myself when I see Onda's sleeping in the match, disgraceful.
Next episode is about baseball? Could it connect to male coach? Maybe he use to coach baseball before? I want to know his past!
Nozomi once again made this anime feel more like RL football, because her highlights of the match, fueled me with frustration, and wanting curse the player.
Now we need to know the deal with the coach. Not that we are close yet to demand resignation, like we do in RL football
Heh, prelim prefectural tournament already? That's fast. New uniform for the girls with the england national uniform reference, and three wallabies as their school emblem. Thats cute. However, its not going so well, despite took the lead in the first half of their first match against the third place team previous year tournament. Moreover, they actually already finished their first match with such a dissapointed lost. Thanks to Onda last second suicidical goal, cause of her lack of focus, due to the sleep-deprive reason, night betore the match. Hah, classic problem of over excitement xd. Now she will be ban for the next match. Damn, Onda, sleep while being lectured in that positions. How can that possible?
But, she was still fired up during the exercise period, which is a good respond. Now, if only everyone have the same determination like the girls, everything will be more good. I see you, the coach dude. But, a little thanks again for the boy bargain with the mister muscle. You get a little plus point from me. Lets see whats up with his past....
Hide and seek is the best offline games on this fatamorgana-called-world-thing. Please comment nicely. I am newbie here.
Great episode! Onda was hilarious this episode lmao, and I think this episode was the best looking one so far, like the art was clean and the animation was pretty good. I like how they showed the game through the post match review, what is this world that we live in, Shiratori actually contributed more than Onda? Cursed timeline. Coach Noumi not knowing how to play defense was also hilarious.
Looks like we are getting Coach Gorou's backstory next episode and why he acts the way he does. Looking forward to it.
that was probably the most enjoyable episode for me so far. i liked the directing for the first match, a switch commentary on it/discussing it between the match thats shown ongoing. also a lot of character interactions, and not as in group a interacts with group b and c, more like individuals interacting with other individuals. but come on did she really not sleep bc of that ... fuckin stupid when you're the teams ace. and she still had the nerve to deny that she was at fault
I thought I commented on the first episode, but I guess not. Actually, maybe I did but I must not have pressed submit. Wait no, I think I said my comments out loud to someone instead and left it at that. Anyway, I'll go ahead and give my thoughts about the anime so far.
First, I'm always happy to see a girls team sports anime that isn't just full of ecchi. Ecchi in general is fine, it's just when you want a girls team sports that takes itself seriously (even if it still has some fanservice here and there) it's hard to find anime like that. I've been totally fine with anime like Uma Musume and Iwa Kakeru (which still have a healthy dose of fanservice while still taking themselves seriously), but while they have team aspects, the sports are mostly done alone-- that is, technically, you don't need a team to help you climb or run track. A part of the appeal of boys sports anime is the bonds the characters form while also growing on their own. It's one of those genres where you can very easily and believably have character development that almost writes itself as long as you pay attention to your characters... yet we haven't had a lot of sports anime with girls teams so I'm always on the lookout. Hell, I even liked Keijo-- I'm really thirsty for the girls team sports with character development and fun + meaningful character interaction... but Keijo skimped a bit on the meaningful interactions part as fun as it was.
So here we have Sayonara Watashi no Cramer which, so far, doesn't have fanservice yet still takes itself seriously. I'm totally okay with that. Very much down for that. So far, we're slowly getting more into the team aspect of things, but I do have to say we can do a little better in that aspect. Hopefully they'll go full throttle on that soon. We still have a lot of time. That is, the secret to an enjoyable sports anime for me is not the focus on the sport itself but the characters playing it and their interactions with each other.
I keep seeing people complain about the animation. I'm looking at some of these episodes frame by frame and it's not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be. Admittedly, I always kinda chuckle when people dare complain about animation when it comes to anime. Like anime in general is all about that limited animation where not much actual animation is happening but they used techniques to make it seem like a lot is happening. Like that's always been an anime staple. This anime just doesn't have the pretty visuals that other anime tend to have nowadays. So it's like...?? But none of the animation itself comes off as actually bad. Everything moves where it ought to. Frames can be a little lacking every now and then, but that's not bad animation. Off model doesn't automatically mean it's bad animation. There's gotta be a review out there or something where someone said the animation here is bad or something and so everyone is just repeating them. I'm just sitting here as a former animation student, looking at everything while failing to see what the heck people are talking about with this so-called "bad animation". Like many anime, there might be a scene here or there that looks a little wonky, but they're not noticeable enough to say that the animation in this anime is bad.
Anyway, I do like the direction this anime is taking so far. Some anime you watch and you're kinda like, "Ehh, I don't have a favorite character yet because they're all kinda blah", but here it's kinda more like, "I don't have a favorite character yet because I want to keep watching them grow and see where they go from there". It's a good spot to be in, I feel. Buuuut, we're also at episode 7 already, so perhaps it's time to step it up. We'll see in the next few episodes where we'll go from here. I do feel like maybe the show could use a bit more pizazz in general-- something that makes it more fun, but that's just me. I dunno, it kinda just feels like something's missing-- like they have it and it's all there, but it feels like they haven't tied it all in in order to make the anime unique to itself. It likes a certain... style? Perhaps? Or it has the style but they're not tying in the style as well as they could be.
I'm enjoying myself overall though. It's not like one of those anime you watch where the directors already go in thinking, "our target audience usually comes in for this, so let's make sure we have this and then everything else will hopefully work well enough". With this, it's kinda like... it's shounen, but is that really our target audience or who will end up watching this? And so it's harder for them to pander to certain interests (beyond what they know about the manga audience), which to me is good! You kinda get to see the show they want to create instead of a show they think their expected audience wants. I dunno, that's what it feels like to me at least. It's nice, whatever the feeling is-- but it's good to be careful about not having direction due to not knowing who to aim your stuff toward too, so something to look out for. I'm just musing at this point.
At last some decent looking jerseys, that what Noumi designed was a mess.
Enjoyable episode. How Nozomi wasn't able to fall asleep was pretty funny, even tho the match ended up being a disaster thanks to it. Shiratori on the other hand managed to score in spite of that lol
One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron
Onda really messed up badly by not getting a proper sleep and scoring an own goal (lmao) but what baffles me is how Nomi kept her in the game despite knowing her condition.
