i was really surprised to find out that mappa will be producing this, they've really been insane lately with the amount of high quality stuff that they're releasing. it's pretty great that they'll be making it though, it's definitely something to look forward to and the concept seems very interesting as well.

It don't get why MAL isn't adding details to this anime. It isn't even approved yet. Maybe it doesn't count as an anime as it's directed by a western guy but the actual animation is done by Japanese staff so what the hell?

no that shouldn't be the case, mappa is producing it and it'll probably be released on netflix japan so there most likely aren't any problems with it qualyfing as an anime. mal database mods just slow

I thought this was going to be like Samurai Champloo.... but the whole "all clash in a Japan of magic and mechs" is just disappointing. This might end up being a mess of a series to be honest.

I will still give it a try since it is only 6 episodes.

Yes, mechs and magic are both two things that are best show through animation. As long as it makes sense it doesn't matter if it's historically accurate or not.

Mark my words, this show will suck ass. Netflix can fuck up anything and everything (except Great Pretender that one doesn't count). Really wish MAPPA didn't agree to work with them. But I'd be more than glad to see a good anime. It's sad that this isn't gonna be one.

This is my most anticipated anime of this year. Finally, more anime with black characters depicted respectfully, with a promising voice cast and FLYING LOTUS on the soundtrack. Mappa really gets all the best anime.

The problem is they likely can't think of much content for the plot if they make it 12 episodes unless if there are Romcom and SOL elements in it but with the serious art style don't expect to see any Moe cute anime girls here lusting for Yasuke, LOL.
