| Seems to me that Roswaal took characteristics from the Devil of Melancholy. The way he talks, the fact Roswaal has two different eye colours etc. Great conversation between Subaru and Roswaal too. |

| Ok, so both Roswaal and Beatrice have some somewhat pleasing experience with Echidna.. Well, I mean, if Beatrice wanted to be called daughter of hers, not only almost daughter.. Everyone loves Echidna.. ;P As well as Ryuzu was saved by Echidna.. Everyone loves Echidna.. ;P But honestly - yeah.. Echidna in that flashback looks as if protagonist of her own anime.. Gathering party around her.. ;P Echidna spinoff when?.. ;P I'm not too sure, what Roswaal means behind his expressions of sympathy towards Beatrice.. Is he enjoys teasing her or something?.. Or truly likes her?.. No idea.. I think he likes Echidna, though.. |

I feel like I'm missing something :((((( Ps: Average anime enjoyer only xD Let me try - At this point, we know that Roswaal is the one who hired Elsa to attack the mansion in order to make Subaru choose between Emilia and the people and the mansion and to make him stronger. So Subaru makes a bet with Roswaal that we would save both of them which seemed impossible because we saw him try and fail multiple times already. This time Subaru had otto to help him and change the flow that was known to Roswaal(he had that book so he knows the future right). The change was Emilia is now strong enough to face the trial and not have a breakdown every single time, Garf is now on Subaru's side, he now knows about Roswaal, Ryuzu, Betty and Echidnas past and how and why sanctuary was created. With this confidence, he went to Roswaal asking him to not plan the attack on the mansion to which Roswaal said he still has the advantage. It's like him thinking that Emilia is still weak and she's not as strong as Subaru thinks she is. Roswaal dwells on the weakness of the people and Subaru believes in the strongness of the people. Anyway, this was my understanding. so please feel free to correct me or add. |

| the whole farewell scene between betty and Ryuzu was sad. If the od of Ryuzu and crystal acting as a catalyst is what created the barrier then can't we just you know destroy the crystal or something to break the barrier. |
| It was fun seeing the younger versions for Echidna's students. It feels like the current Roswald was influenced by the Devil of Melancholy. I really want to know more about what happened with him and Echidna after Ryuzu entered the crystal. It feels a bit strange seeing Roswald getting so worked up for once. |

| This series really loves jampacking an insane amount of lengthy flashbacks in a season, particularly in this cour. I'm kinda sick of it by now. The LNs feel the same way but the anime feels slower for me since I can go by my own pace in the LNs. This makes the anime feel way more bloated and boring in parts despite its best efforts to make genuinely engaging storylines by connecting these backstories through this arc and going for a big climax with plenty of characterization overall for various characters. The pacing was probably why I wasn't mentally checked in with the Roswaal backstory with Echidna (and their bonus kiss here while showing their relationship more here), Ryuzu and Beatrice. I did like the Ryuzu-Beatrice parting at the end with Beatrice struggling to put her emotions forward clearly while knowing that she doesn't want to lose someone who was like a genuine sister to her, even if as usual, it was stretched out way too long that it was close to losing its steam. The 2nd half of the episode felt even slower with how Subaru and Roswaal were confronting each other. This was one of the weaker episodes of this cour, not really a good one for me despite a couple of quality moments. |

| So much talking again... I don't mind that usually, I really loved Monogatari which was 95% talking, but the conversations feel pointless for a large part. |

| great episode. some background and depth to the sanctuary and how it came to be was nice to see. subaru and roswaal's confrontation at the end was great and it looks like emilia is done the trial. it looks like we're about to enter the final act of this lengthy arc. |
| The opening song's awesome!!! I love it!! This episode was good. I liked the confrontation between Subaru and Roswaal. Things are getting pretty intense now. |
| for a while ive been getting this feeling that im watching an extended cut, these episodes are longer than normal an a lot of content seems like id be better of cut, id help the pacing which is quite bad, so many lengthy flashbacks for characters that arent even that important |

| Well, that was a massively complicated episode. Subs likes girls' strengths and Roswald likes girls' weaknesses hence the barrier? Or something. Also, Emilia has the Envy witch in her veins somehow and is a witch? Also, it seems Roswald somehow synced with the melancholy wizard somehow, so that will be revealed. Very complicated discussion, very confusing. Everyone seems to have a weird justification for starting and living in the barrier. I guess they liked Echidna, the witch of greed. Hence why she holds all their loves and passions to herself and uses them, she's greedy in human relationships, including their loyalty. Does Emilia envy something? Others' strength? The thing with Garfield is so cornball. This whole second cour is cornball. I still think Subs should've made a deal with Echidna, but I guess that makes one a servant so touche. |
