Why does he has to call her name shouting 2 or 3 times EVERY SINGLE TIME no matter the situation, like when he's getting up the stairs and just shouts her name multiple times when he's not even up yet.
First Half of the episodes was bearable but damn its starting to get too annoying.

japanese doesn't have the sound "k" alone at the end of a word so they have to add a voyel sound here. Technically it's the same in the novels, name is written as "vikutorika" in the japanese version.
Also, Victorique is not a real first name. They feminised the old french first name "Victoric" that was male only, by going to ic -> ique for female.
So while the way they did it is indeed a traditional way to feminise male french first name ending as "ic", this one never really existed.
So yeah;no point in getting upset about how a foreign language struggle to reproduce exactly the pronunciation of a first name that doesn't even really exist in the first place ~

(btw this is also why when Kazuya first heard about Victorique but didn't meet her yet, he thought that Victorique was a boy, because Victoric is a male first name like I said)

We can beat around the bush with semantics as much as we want, but I still agree with the fundamental argument that he says her name way too much. By any standards.

If her name is written "vikutorika" in the novels then I won't complain
If her name is supposed to be "Victorique" though, then "vikutoriku" would've been the better choice.

Her name is indeed ヴィクトリカ (Vikutorika) in the novel and yes it should have been ヴィクトリク(Vikutoriku).

There is no possible way the suffix "que" could countain the vowel "a" when pronounced. Her name truly is badly translated. I even asked google to translate literraly "Victorique" from French to Japanese and it gave me Vikutoriku.

I'm also annoyed by people trying to excuse this by saying that Japanese have a different language. This is not an excuse because every language is different and when you try to learn another language you shouldn't try to say foreign words as if they were in your language. This reminds me how French people suck so hard at pronouncing English word since they pronounce every English word as if they were French words. Moreover, that the Japanese behind Gosick were inspired by a French region so they obviously did a lot of research on the Cultural language and regional architecture and etc. I'm don't know why such mistake were left unnoticed.

And the voice actor is a Seiyuu who is supposed to be talented in language. Saying Victorique instead of Victorika wouldn't be such a challenge. I once asked my Japanese friend who was struggling in French at the moment to pronounce Victorique and she succeeded without trouble. I cannot believe the seiyuu wouldn't succeed in saying her name correctly with a minimum of practice.

And even if they wanted to keep ヴィクトリカ as her name, then he should at least say victorIIIIka instead of VictorikAAAAA and it would be a bit less annoying.

Or maybe it's just me?

Honestly, I was more annoyed with the fact that he had to shout it. I don't really mind him saying it but does he have to yell almost every single time? Plus the pronunciation could get a little annoying, but I'm not Japanese so I can't really judge.

I didn't get annoyed for that but every time he was saying "VICTORICAAA" I was thinking... "Man, half of this VA's script is just yell that name".

Yea, I’m watching this anime for the first time and I hate Kujo. He just takes her verbal abuse and does nothing. He says he’s the “third son of an Imperial Soldier” but is such a wimp. I’m honestly disappointed so far, 13 episodes in. I mean I like how smart Victorique is, but the fact that Kujo has no spine to actually tell her straight and not treat him like a doormat, nor accomplishing anything without her, is absolutely frustrating. And yea, he just repeats her name cause he can’t do anything without her. I’ll need to cleanse myself with watching a romance series with a competent male protagonist after I begrudgingly finish this overrated anime, so I’d appreciate that if someone has suggestions.

Yea I know. I guess maybe people just see a cute anime girl and vote an 8 or a 9? It sure seems like as if they didn’t even factor in the annoyingly poor male mc into their rating.

I'm at 13 eps right now, and regretting wasting my time on this anime. Was it worth finishing in the end?

I scream "shut up" to the screen every time he says it. I can't even control it. It's a reflex.
I was thinking about a drinking game but now I realize I'm going to die if I attempt it.

I kinda got used to it. Except for one of the later episodes, he repeatedly yells her name so damn loud. Other than that, I don’t find it annoying

I imagine the people making the anime wanted to remain faithful to the novels. I wish the subs had spelled her name as "Victorica" to better match the way it's pronounced.
