It was quite a ride for me. Enjoyed almost every episodes till now. I love how they blend philosophy, unity and thriller in a single episode.

episode 1-7 10/10

episode 8-11 6/10 resident sleeper

Impresion that third arc left on me is that author lost sight of, where he wanted to go with this. As example its similar to harem anime, thats focused on what makes it good = women and tits. And then it realizes its going to need conclusion soon. so it tries really hard to come up with satisfying ending in the last 2 episodes ruining the sole thing that made it enjoyable in process.

Im grateful for first 2 arc which were amazing at least

I agree. The beginning was an absolute banger before that big break it took in December . It's kinda losing its hype now with all the America stuff and whatnot

Also think the show probably would've benefited with more episodes tbh

I'm agreeing with the previous comments. I personally got to binge watched the first 8 episodes in the train 3 weeks ago, each episode being more & more intriguing. But then we reached a point where the detective/investigation style left place to a psychological style. So basically less or even absence of action, numerous dialogs which open a door to a reflexion inside every viewer's brain.

Let's say that I don't think it is breathtaking or astonishing but it remains really interesting since the whole show involes very serious thematics. My last hope is that they give a nice conclusion, both in terms of action (Ai Magase being arrested / killed ?) and in terms of reflexion (I don't expect a direct question about "is suicide good or evil" but more like an open door to a better understanding for everyone).

Nice until it got to the US. There it started to be really great. Some nice chars and talks about interesting things - instead of only fighting vs. a superpowered Magase Ai.

It would have only been your usual crime show if they had left it with Seizaki vs. Magase Ai and her mindfucking all the others. (Which itself was pretty boring. Only the reactions of the other chars to it were interesting.)

The first half of the show were definitely intriguing. No comment on the second yet I'll let it conclude itself but I'm certain the ending wouldn't bail the amount of ridiculous discussions about the topic (suicide) I found along the way.

I love it! Babylon is one of the most interesting series I've seen in a long time. Based on the way the story wraps up, I may even rate it a 10/10.

I generally love these kinds of mature anime, so I'm biased usually, but Babylon isn't that good.

It's not bad by any means, but it just drags on. The mystery of Magase is being milked for so long, that I care less about it than I did before.
I wouldn't mind much the lack of character development for the most part, if there weren't so many character deaths. I really cringed at how the white characters are all drawn with either white hair, or blonde hair and blue eyes, with humongous noses. But I think what bothered me more than that, is just how Japanese the American characters seem to act. Still, it's not that big a deal, and how realistic they look compared to the Japanese characters.
There are also a notable number of plot holes and inconsistencies. Like:

-How did the Japanese government approve the suicide law to begin with?
-Why didn't the characters research that kid's background?
-Why didn't Magase consider the possibility that Seizaki would record her hacking his co-worker into pieces, and use the evidence against her in court?
-Why did Seizaki tell the US president that he was planning to commit murder? I know he's mentally unstable at this point in the story, but still.

Although I do love how it tries to be philosophical without being hammy, or having characters monologue spontaneously in a way that's sudden, and feels unnatural (looking at you Bakemonogatari). For example, I loved the conversation between the US president and the priest about suicide, how the Bible doesn't mention it. Given the situation, it made perfect sense why they'd be talking about it. But I actually wish the characters talked more about whether suicide is right or not, make more arguments.

The first 7-8 eps were absolutely amazing. I loved every single moment from these eps mostly because I loved the tension, the mystery of Ai Magase and the despair of MC to catch the evil woman. Now with the rest of the eps, I'm not sure what was the point of extending the suicide law globally, it feels forced and way too fast, it went from a tense thriller to a political drama which it feels unrealistic and somehow mediocre. I'm still curious about all this mystery around Ai Magase and how the story it will end. Overall it's a great show, I want more anime like this!

At this point, I'm curious about Seizaki's mental state :<

Japan hasn't approved of the law. The law was enacted in Shiniki

-Why didn't the characters research that kid's background?
Negligence? Besides, they were only using him as a pawn to combat Itsuki. It's stated in episode 6 that they reached out and were unable to contact the father, but the mother was willing and able to cooperate with them.

-Why didn't Magase consider the possibility that Seizaki would record her hacking his co-worker into pieces, and use the evidence against her in court?
I really think that's inconsequential. Especially since she can just change her appearance.

-Why did Seizaki tell the US president that he was planning to commit murder? I know he's mentally unstable at this point in the story, but still.
He didn't want to lie to the President. After everything he's been through, he's resolved with his decision to kill Magase, bearing in mind any consequence that will arise from him taking her life.

Intriguing start, a good shift to more political subjects, and a total train-wreck of pretentiousness that was episode 11. I am concerned for the last episode.

Really liked the start but after the break its turned into a completely one sided show.

it started out with this evil woman being linked to deaths and the new government has made suicide legal. but the latter didn't seem quite as important as the former.

now ai is only spoken about like a memory. plus we have this 11th episode which is all philosophy. at this point, if the final ep is all ai centric it would throw off the pacing again.

I completely disagree with the idea USA arc was a bad one. It's debatable whether it was inferior to what it was shown previously, but really far from being bad. I can safely say those 4 episodes were better written and directed than a lot of high praised shows from 2019.

But with all that been said, this last episode can really destroy the show for me. There
are still some questions the show need to explain, and doesn't seem like it wants to give a proper answer, like how Magase has her "powers".

I generally love seinen, so I'm biased usually, but Babylon isn't that good.

Where are you getting that this is seinen? Seinen is manga demographic and this is novel not manga adaptation.

Episodes 1-7 are definitely a solid 9/10
Episode 8-11 are a good 8/10.

The USA arc is really good and its writing is amazing, but it's just that it differs a little too much from the tone set by the anime in the first 7 episodes

I was expecting the story to focus on the Seizaki/Magase mind battle, and in general Seizaki's hunt for Magase

I'm wondering how episode 12 is gonna wrap up everything. I really hope the end will be satisfying

My only complaint about episodes 8-11 are the lack of Ai Magase's screentime. This character is truly fascinating, and we almost forgot her during the second part of the anime

Oh, my bad, I thought MAL listed this as a seinen. I'll rephrase what I said then: I'm normally very biased for these kind of very mature series, but Babylon isn't that good.

This pretty much sums up how I feel about it too. I still have the last episode to watch, but considering how predictable episode 10 was I have almost no hope of being impressed.

Common opinion with everyone, it got bad in the second half.

The US Prez is so pretentious that he should not belong in this role.

My overall experience of this anime is quite good. I'm waiting for the finale,,,if the end is satisfying I'd have given it 8/10.

The score almost depends on the last episode. If the last one is amazing I’ll give it an 8/10 if it’s a descent ending it’s a 7/10 and if it’s shit 5/10

First 3 episodes were promising, but the ending... wasn't good. Imo it showed signs of weakness during the wole suicide debate in Shiniki, when Itsuki's opposition brought his son to the debate without bothering to investigate the child's background only to get slapped in the face when his identity is revealed. That was honestly quite idiotic, and it went downhill from that point.

Also, was very sad that best girl was brutally dismembered and decapitated for nothing.
