This is honestly the best way to watch it, I was in HYSTERICS!! I watched a little bit of the japanese dub and read a little bit of the english translation of the light novel and I got to say the execution is kinda boring compared in both compared to how the english dub presents the characters. Everything is super funny, the voices really highlight the silliness of the comedy and they actually fit every character’s personality really well. The heartfelt and intense moments are done incredibly well as well, don’t knock off trying the english dub without trying it yourself, the dub here is super underrated and makes this a 9 for me.

I’ve watched snippets of it and I still think the subbed voices are better. Seiya sounds more serious and stern while the dub sounds like he’s a bit grouchy. I also think the goddess sounds a bit better in the sub with her reactions.

The Dub is fine though, I’d say either would give you a good experience of the show.

Nope. The English voice actress could not even remotely capture the quirkiness and dual nature of Ristarte who tries to outwardly show that she's a noble and level-headed goddess like Aria, but in reality behaves more like a squeaky teenager.

She maintains the exact same tone and pitch regardless of whether she's in her "goddess mode" or her "honest mode".

Now that we've got Dual Audio almost everywhere, there is not really any reason to fight over dub/sub anymore. At this point, just watch what you want to.

Oh and, please don't assume people who watch with jap audio can't understand it. Not everyone is limited to a single language (seems a lot of people like to say "why watch with a language you don't understand?!?!?!...)

I also like the dub for this anime. The anime is better than I initially expected.

No it ain't. Ristarte sounds like every generic English dub anime (or hentai) girl with that typical "English dub" sing-song speech pattern. Her VA isn't acting. She's just doing an "anime voice" while rambling the lines. And Ristarte is voice by Toyosaki Aki in the Japanese dub, so that automatically makes it better.

LOL I will respectfully disagree with that statement. Putting terrible English voices on top of a Japanese show is jarring.

The voice acting in the sub is definitely better. What makes the dub good is the script, they rewrote a lot of it to be more accessible to an English audience, it's way more self-aware too. Same thing with the dub of Kemono Michi. The characters acknowledge isekai tropes and make fun of them. IMO both subs get boring over time because of cliches. The dubs make them bearable.

I think you should try both and pick the one you prefer.

You initially said the sub was better, but in the end the dub more bearable?

Not much for me to say here, except that I can't stop picturing Tony McBee when hearing the dub voice of the MC.

Oh, and Jamie does an outstanding job in this dub as she usually does.

I think you missed the part where I said the sub has better voice acting overall. I think you also missed the part where I said the dub's script is better. You probably also missed the part where I said the subbed versions get boring over time. And perhaps the part where I said the dub makes both anime bearable.

i read it im just confused by your wording of subs and dubs, by dubs in the end you mean the voice acting for both Japanese and english right?
But if the subbed version gets boring over time and the dub has a better script , how is the subbed overall better it sounds like your saying there is no upside to the subbed.
There is no need to be condescending dude, im not trying to argue here i just want to understand what youre saying.

Dub generally refers to the version with English voice acting. Sub refers to the version with Japanese voice acting and subtitles, subs for short. No condescension, I never would have guessed someone didn't know the difference between subs/dubs when clicking on a forum post about a dub.

Well, you said boths subs get boring overtime in the end and spoke dubs in plural form as well, so i dont know what youre referring to but rereading it seems you were referring to two anime and not just kono yuusha so it makes more sense.sorry about that. Maybe the condescension part is unintentional, but repeating the phrase "i guess you missed the part" is a condescending statement and also "I never would have guessed someone didn't know the difference between subs/dubs when clicking on a forum post about a dub." Is also a condescending Statement.

Same thing with the dub of Kemono Michi
This is what I meant by dubs (plural).

Who the hell watched subtitled? I thought dubbed was the only way people watch anime. Since 1998 I've only watched two anime movies and two anime series subbed and it wasn't all that great. What a silly argument. Everyone knows dubbed is best.

Big agree. I watch sub for 90% of anime but in this instance I definitely prefered the dub. Ristarte's dub voice sounds better IMO. A lot of dub VA's seem to struggle to have depth and variety in their voice but she does a great job.

The only other anime where I preferred the dub are FMA:B, Death Note and Overlord.

You may think so, but that doesn't make it true.

Usually the original voice acting of anything, be it Japanese, Korean or Chinese is still the best, because it is the original and voice actors were picked to represent the characters accurately. English voice acting is OK for American, British, Australian shows, for anything else that's not the native language, it's just massive cringe.

Lets agree to disagree because frankly, you only think its better because its your native language.
Not saying it isnt good but there is a clear difference in quality comparing an original japense dub to an english/any other language dub.

I agree the dub is really funny, I generally prefer comedy anime in dub just because the jokes are easier and I don't need to read to understand. The dub for this anime was particularly good though.

Watch it however you please. Some shows have good dubs but dub never beats sub and that's a fact. Dub-Only is just that cringy phase some people have/had.

I can't compare because I only watch dubbed. I absolutely love this show and hope for a season 2. The comedy is on the same level as Konosuba.
