| I definitely agree about Kirino in the TV adaptation — the almighty hand of the executives wanted to tone down the incest implication (for surely making a TV-adaptation about OreImo when opposed to incest implication is the sanest idea a man might have?) and the end result was that all the kind moments of Kirino were erased because of the incestuous implication of showing his sibling affection. Kirino barely even qualifies as a tundere; there is no "dere"; Kirino is just an ungreatful arsehole who happens to be in love most of the time. One that doesn't get mentioned enough I feel is Vegeta – simply because Vegeta is super boring and the whole Vegeta/Bulma pairing kept being hard to believe till the very end. Vegeta being always angry isn't portrayed in a way that makes it seem cute which is the whole appeal of the archetype. As contrast the way they did it with Piccolo towards Gohan even though it's not a romantic but substitute-parent relationship is much more endearing. |
