Nanbu saw maybe his best friend listed as KIA, but never went to check on what happened?

It was never implied Aragaki and Nanbu were friends. Their relationship is shown to be only professional. Furthermore, it's strongly implied Nanbu only cared for Aragaki because he was making money, and it was the same for Joe, but this has begun to change after Nanbu's latest experiences.

it was never implied but we can conclude that Nanbu's relationship with Aragaki is more than that. at that time Nanbu is a decent coach with decent gym

Interesting developments, but I'm not a fan of making it look like Nanbu is the bad guy for believing the reports that the guy was killed in action.

Backstory, and it's about Danpe. That's a character I never thought I'd see get some detail, good. Joe's most probably gonna standup at the count of 9, I don't think he'll get out of Megalonia just because of this guy.

That's quite the backstory of a character and a big cliffhanger! Really do wonder what will happen next to be honest!

Aragaki's past makes me feel sorry for him and proud of him at the same time. I almost don't want Joe to win because of Aragaki's past but ofc, Joe's the MC and he WILL win.

He's training at a gym with a lot of veterans who lost their limbs during the war. That PTSD episode he had with him putting a gun in his mouth while he was in his room. Also dreaming of his old coach with the bomb that changed his life. Jesus Christ.

When he returned Nanbu Gym was closed. :( Can't blame the old man either, he saw a report on TV stating that Aragaki was dead.

I was surprised about the opening scene being about something else other than boxing but it was actually the backstory of one of Nanbu's last students and his survival story made me very emotional seeing his struggle. He got both of his legs blown off, half his face permanently scarred, suffered post-war depression, and came back to the gym he once trained at in a last-ditch effort to get himself together only to find out that it's all but gone. If it weren't for that other veteran who volunteered to train him, he would've been one of the many tragic lives lost outside the battlefield lying in the memorial.

Nanbu closed his gym out of grief and tried to erase him from his memory to prevent feeling hurt even more but he didn't know that he survived all along. Joe's winning streak made him underestimate his opponent and he got knocked out with a grisly punch as a result. I don't know if he'll get up on the literal last second or he'd lose once the next episode begins...

Aragaki seems pretty interesting. But...he can't blame Nanbu for closing his shop. I mean, he thought Aragaki was dead. He got upset and cried when he saw his name along with the other soldiers that had died. How was Nanbu supposed to know that he was alive? Despite that though, I do understand why Aragaki feels that way. He seemed like a decent guy. It sucks that war can do that to people.

OMG a cliffhanger, I don't know what he's going to do but that fight I'd definitely interesting, his new opponent is a beast.

That was a great episode. Seeing Aragaki's story was sad. But, I don't blame the coach for his condition. Joe seems to be in trouble. I hope he gets back.

Really glad this episode provided a look into Nanbu's past. Aragaki is a really interesting character and has a really interesting reason to fight. I wonder of Joe can win out this fight, as Aragaki probably know's Joe's moves since they were both coached by Nanbu.

Great episode! Another episode with fantastic characterization, that backstory of Aragaki was sad, he made it out alive in the war, but ptsd along with it. Can't really blame Nanbu either. Win or lose, I hope Aragaki moves on. How's Joe gonna win though, he got socked lmao.

Joe and the former member of the coach had a deep conversation together. Joe's not backing down and he's going straight for the win. But he's down in the first minutes xD Will he stand up or give up the first round.

Nice I like how they're fleshing out Joe's opponent. Also I don't think he can last that much longer without any gear, hopefully he gets some after this fight

Definitely my favourite episode so far. It had some tough and emotional moments. I kinda like this new guy though I think he’s gonna take more of his anger out on Joe next ep.
