THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Oo, I think the OP song works well for this season. Catchy and has the Yuuki Yuuna vibe that I was expecting.

The episode had more action than the usual slice of life stuff. Business really picked up with these girls. The suffering has begins again! Second half of this episode really took my breath away. It's a good thing Mimori is doing better after all that.

The pacing was really all over the place for this, just like last episode; I hope it stabilises now that the first situation with Togo is over.

This would've benefited as a 12 episode series so they could flesh it out.

Anyways, the stuff with Yuna at the end was interesting and the preview also...

Well I didn't expect Washi had turned into a black hole. Even if Taisha didn't directly imprison her outside, they more or less left her with no other choice. Also considering how she felt about breaking the wall.

Now there is "only" the matter about Yuuna's mark.

Nooooooo Yuuna!

Wow, a lotta stuff happened this episode. I wasn't expecting them to rescue Tougo so quickly, but seeing how things are going to play out, I'm glad they did. Lots of despair incoming...

That OP was nice, even had a NoWaYu reference in it

However, I didn't like what some of the OP seems to be foreboding...

Poor Sonochii

Seems like Yuuna's going to keep the mark a secret from the other girls.

Also, digging the ED song a bit more than the OP

So Yuuna has been at where Tougou was before, eh? Probably at the end of S1, which would explain why she was not waking up.

Even then poor Gun-chan still not recognized.

Anyway this will surely turn depressing soon. I hope they will reach happy end unlike with NoWaYu.

Also they seem prone to forgot about Hero Club Tenets no 4 "If you are troubled, talk to someone".

I wasn't really expecting Tougou would be rescue so quick and thought they need another episode, but I expecting something bad coming next.
As just can see in preview and they make OP as forecast make Tougou kind of went against them.

More despair on way .

I was way over-hyped LOL!

OP was slick!

Spotted those references even though i haven't read yet.

Taisha didn't know what was up, and yuushas going on independent mission outside? Shit is real.

They go about a rescue mission that you'd expect to have taken the whole 6 eps, but they went full blitzkrieg and did it in 10 mins...
Convenience of outcome is too suspicious.

Yuuna's got an edgy 'black spot, fire version' (i noticed it in website art, but didn't know what it was).

I wonder what's next?

cancersubs were triggering me.

It's the return of CGI for every shot that isn't a close up! With blinding fire and lightning covering up bad animation to boot!

Well this episode didn't play out as i thought it would. I don't know where the story will go from now on, but practically Yuuna just took Tougou's place? They made it look like she's been there before, hinting at S1 ending stuff. Can't say i'm very excited for the next episode...

Yuna's "I will save you over and over again" reminded me of Homura Akemi.
That hole was so strange, I didn't like it at all.

Yuna saved Togou. That mark on her chest reminds me of the mark that people got in Jigoku Shoujo.

I don't know about you guys, but the prequel was better. The first ep of the sequel was fine, and this ep was... it was weird and disturbing.

I'm literally annoyed at how predictable that all turned out with the Togo situation. I practically called it last week too. This is definitely something that should be a 12 episode thing but I guess they wanted to cut out the fluff and get straight to the meat of the plot. Here's to hoping it doesn't become any more rushed or predictable than it already has but so far I'm not impressed by this sequel. 2/5

Hmmm, interesting... I have to agree with some of the previous people that the pacing this episode was... weird. And the way they were all talking in the hospital room almost had me worried for a second, it sounded like a hell of a lot of plot contrivance very quickly, but thankfully they had that last scene with the weird mark to follow-up on everything that had happened inside the black hole and assure us they hadn't forgotten already and weren't going to go some weird left-field direction with the rest of the season, and all the apparent contrivances weren't quite the truth.

Feels like Yuuna was led there right from the start. First she was shown the place in her dreams after S1 (does that make Yuuna that thing's miko for being able to "hear/connect with it"?), and now the thing readily switched to her from Tougou.

Probably the whole thing about the flames going berserk outside wasn't because of the wall being open for a moment (Why would that even matter? How?), but because the heavenly god thing wanted Yuuna right from the start. Tougou could only appease the god to a degree, acting like a stress relief as it burned her on the cross. Or just isn't compatible like Yuuna is (her soul is intact when she's in contact with the mark, while Yuuna's soul is corrupted(?)).

Now the god thing got his hands on Yuuna who becomes his vessel. I look forward to how this goes.

Who is Gun-chan? There were only 4 heores of Shikoku back in 300 years ago *joke*
Actually I didn't expect that reference. NoWaYu anime coming?(yes please)

I do agree with some people that the pace is too fast, and those who didn't read KuMeYu would find it too sudden about Tougou's situation here. Before S2 timeline, Taisha established mass produced hero called sentinel, and their mission is to scout the outside world. Heavenly Gods got angry at the facts that human leaving Shikoku (violating their treaty) and thus the fire got hotter and if it isn't stopped the world will end. They need to beg for amnesty of Heavenly Gods by offering Miko/shrine maiden to the fire of outside world just like 300 years ago.

I got to add that Taisha is translated as Grand Shrine before but they change the reading to Amnesty because of the aforementioned sacrifice to remember the shame that they lost the world and one day will reclaim it back.

That was...annoyingly predictable. Togo (Wasshi) betrayed 'God' and despite realizing the error of her ways and helping everyone to save the world in the end of the first season, she still caused a lot of damage to the heroes (especially Yuuna) so of course there's gonna have to be a price to pay. So basically 'God' erases her existence and forces her to burn in Hell for all eternity while altering the memories of all the people she's ever known. So what? Now it looks like the season will basically be the girls defying their roles as heroes for the sake of rescuing their friend right? If this is going to be the case, I already know how I'm gonna feel about it at the end but at least Sonoko is back. 2/5

I think he mixed the 'Gods' here. Should we blame Amazon Subs? They translate heavenly gods only as 'gods' in some sentences.

@DedPanda The one who burned Tougou is Heavenly Gods who created Vertex, not the Shinju that the humans worship. Taisha didn't punish Tougou, but offer her to be a sacrifice instead of 6 other miko, and Tougou accept the offer willingly. The sacrifices are needed to beg amnesty from heavenly god. The memories are erased because Tougou herself prayed to Shinju to erase memories so her friends won't be sad or looking for her.

DEYMN! This episode is on a whole different level!
The new system: Post-Sange Hero System provides that even if you go Mankai, there's no drawback! now that's much better!
Damn! this time we have a friggin' Black Hole!
And looks like all of their power leveled-up especially Nogi Sonoko swinging her spear like that so awesome!
That scene wherein they go for the Black Hole looks exactly like Interstellar!
Yuuna finally found Tougou but damn! she just pulled her out of that!? If i have to say, she doesn't friggin' know what she's doing and what consequences lie beyond...
I think what is irreparable and that black mark on her chest is big trouble and irreversible i think!
At least for now Tougou is saved!
OST is still EPIC!
The ED is heavenly great!
5/5.

I liked this episode. It did seem a bit contrived for them to save Mimori so quickly, but I still enjoyed the symbolism and surreal parts. I hope Yuuki Yuuna continues with that deeper imagery. The new OP and ED are good too; the OP in particular seems to have symbolism that I’m not picking up on yet. This new hero system (How does the Taisha keep changing it?) is interesting, as it leaves the possibility of death on the table. I didn’t expect Gin to die, and those expectations being shattered and the power of the music at the funeral brought me to tears. Who could die then? Honestly, Karin seems most likely; someone pointed out her pose in the ending as similar to Gin, and I’ve heard that Gin’s terminal went to Karin (When did we learn this? In the prequel series it was never stated; was it in the movies? The light novel? I don’t know!!!) But I’ll definitely keep watching this anime. I hope this sequel ends with more satisfaction than Madoka Rebellion, which is a low bar.

In KuMeYu it is clearly stated that due to one hero(Gin) retired Taisha is looking for candidate to replace her. After long test between two final candidate Mebuki and Karin it turn out Karin is the one that most fit to inherit it.

Which basically means lacking common sense, reckless; "leaping before thinking" so to speak (deru - active tense, kara - because). (arieruwane just saying "it's not unlikely" or "i could see that happening") Plus there's all the shit she did in original YuYuYu... she's pretty nuts (i don't think of that as a bad thing, i actually love how they accept her lack of sanity as part of her character).

I just found the HorribadSubs to be amusingly blunt, and the actual line to be so painfully true.

Those girls are really easily manipulated, right? Yeah, let's go suffer like before. Sonoko was really like devil's advocate this time (and she mankai'd withouth second though), I don't belive in anything Taisha says. There will be consequences...

Also, it all went just too easy. That corruption brand on Yuuna's body aside why there were no vortexes attacking the Earth? It was because Wasshi lured the into black hole nothingness for sure.

To paraphrase Wasshi: "This isn't a dream, right?" Black holes existence on event horizon often leads to time travels or to parallel universes, you know? As far as I can say they are still within the void.

Well, that was resolved quickly, although now Yuuna might be in danger again :(
It's only natural for Tougou to take this sacrifice after being stupid and trying to destroy the world... Should have been left there :/
The ritual wasn't explained too much, but I didn't really expect more after the end of the previous season :'D

The pacing was a bit weird again, but at least somewhat better than the previous episode.

There must be a downside to the new system as well... It would lose some of its dangerous feel now, unless of course they get hurt after losing their mankai mode.

Also a ton of bad CGI in here. What a shame cuz season 1 had pretty nice production value and it was hard to notice the CGI.
