I'm getting seriously tired of this, I don't know if it's for "fanservice" that they're being disregarded but just treating them like they never were there in the first place is just bad writing at this point. We know the 01 cast does aknowledge their existence because they looked for Ichijouji, but I guess they still don't care enough to ask for help / check on them / wonder were they are / contact them through phone / ask Daigo.

The thing that pissed me off the most is the fact that they litterally rebooted Digiworld without knowing that the 02 cast and digimon may have very well been inside there at that moment. And even if they weren't and it was just the 02 digimon, they still thought it was a good idea to go ahead and do so without telling one word to the other digidestined. Toei needs to get his shit together, because I'm used to them screwing up animations and pacing and screen time and pretty much everything else, but the damn plot shouldn't be treated like this. If they want to please fans so much they can go ahead and make a sad shallow jealous female version of Broly I guess, for all I care, it's not like Dragon Ball Super was gonna be anywhere near being saved by Broly, but Digimon Adventure Tri could've and should've been treated with that minimum of respect as to not disregard the story you're working on. So if I don't see shit about the 02 cast in this movie I guess I'll just pretend Toei doesn't exist any longer. Probably should anyway.

Toei is certainly doing that because of the appeal to the nostalgia of the old generation, and with that in mind, they are doing the right choice I think.

I´m acctually glad to see more of the "main" team than the other/second team.

At this pont if they show the second group for a few minutes in one episode just to pleasure their fans, that would be no different from a beach episode just to show the girls in bikini.

looks stupid for some reason. if they don't want to include the 02 guys, then why they give the 02 guys a little sneak peak(?) laying on the ground at the early movies (forgot which one) looks like defeated by "Digimon Emperor"

and also they can't ignore the 02 too because Hikari and Takeru digivice in this series is the new model from the 02 right? they can make the 02 kids shown up at the last movie because the 01 generation getting beat up again and again but it looks a little ridiculous now

and don't forget that there's suppose to be a LOT of the chosen kid out there from the 02 but toei doesn't even make them look exist in the first place (from the final few of 02 when Daisuke and Ken travel around the world with Imperialdramon there's a few scene that show that there's a lot of the chosen kid out there if i remember correctly)

and forgive me for my broken english

I 100 % agree with you... I've been pissed bout this matter ever since the first movie cause I'm a 02 kids fan and this irks me so much in a whole new level... Toei needs to get their act together cuz if they don't address and show the 02 kids in Our Future then tri will be non existent/non canon to me for the rest of my life...

Daisuke, Ken, Miyako and Iori don't deserve this bullshit

With how little has been resolved through 75% of the story, I wouldn't be surprised if they made a continuation where the 02 gang has to clean up Meiko's mess. At least something like that would be Digimon Adventure related and not just OC Digimon Tamer the movie. The best part about Tri is that it's called Tri. Maybe one day we'll get an Adventure 03 that is actually about the 01 kids.

I will be disappointed if the 02 cast will again be ignored like this, but I guess that's how it will be. Let's just hope there will be kind of a sequel where the 02 kids at least get the chance to... exist. I guess, even if the 02 kids will be shown in the last movie, it won't be really necessary or important for the story, so I'd prefer a sequel where they get the roles they deserve...

02 = season 2. This movie is about the season 1 cast, and it is disregarding the characters in season 2. If you are watching Tri without watching season 2, you are missing a large portion of the story. Luckily since Tri is mostly only acknowledging season 2 in very small ways (Hikari's and Takeru's Digivices, the Dark Ocean, etc), you aren't missing much, but you may have been confused by who Ichijouji was. It's fine to enjoy the movies (I certainly am), but there is a giant plot hole in that these movies are really ignoring a part of their history, so it's confusing (and irritating) to those of us who watched chronologically and want to see the entire cast represented.

idk, i think there are still informations on the dark . I guess the pace was draggy but the idea of "black sea" / dark side of the digiworls which was originally on the first series remained to be familiar. It made me think this is probably unwanted but I still want this.

Why is a clear choice a "plot hole"? There is no discrepancy made with their absence, since this was taken care of with a few scenes and dialogues lines. (even if I personally disliked the way the worries were discarded, especially since it was coming from a character who never inspired trust to the audience).

Based on what you wrote, the discrepancies in Tri come from ignoring part of 02's scenario. Would you mind remind me about those parts, please?

@Lucky96u It was adressed, once. Too bad the characters decided it was enough and that the information source was trustworthy (it was Maki, if I remember it right). I'm pretty sure Yamato was the one who asked for their whereabout.
I don't understand the problem with accepting what happened in the first seconds of the first movie. That was the discarding option the creators chose for those characters (plus, if I remember right, Alphamon is working for Yggdrasil who seems opposed to the "force"/deity that ruled over the Chosen Children system, so it made sense for him to have been the tool used for their eradication of the future events). Without that, it would have been a hole in the story planning to not have those other heroes take an active role in it. I am actually impressed they bothered to link it to their idea of a story rather than just eliminating them "because".

Not liking the movies by the way. But if this one thing was bullshit I should reject in order to be allowed to talk about plot (plot = course of events in a fiction, right? the word keeps being thrown here and there but I often find hard to relate it to the meaning the dictionary gave me), then there is only one or two drops of nothing I should accept in the
whole revival side-story until now.

@IntoOpenWaters Sorry, I thought a plot hole was something who was forgotten by creators or was conflicting with previous elements.

Let's be clear, main characters that ignore other main character's existence is what I would define a plot hole. Characters having specific kind of attitudes are part of the plot, and having someone like Yamato who litterally represents friendship completely ignoring the 02 cast is a big one by itself, let alone EVERYONE disregarding them. If you accept some bullshit like what you saw at the beginning of the first movie to understand what happened to the 02 cast then you're in no position to talk plot at all, since that is supposed to be a huge part of it.

^Basically that (@Rei366). This is exactly what I'm talking about with plot holes. You can't have the characters completely disregard a major part of the cast like that. Hikari and Takeru belong to the newest iteration of the Digidestined, so at the very least having them disregard their existence isn't realistic. Calling it "a clear choice" does not change that it is a plot hole. A better choice would have been to at minimum have the characters try to contact the new Digidestined and be unable to, further supporting that something happened to them. At least that way there would be a level of concern for their well-being, satisfying those of us who want to see these events as a proper direct sequel, but give them room to proceed to focus on the original cast as they clearly intended to do.

If you disagree that it's a "plot hole," feel free to replace the word with whatever word makes sense to you (although I stand by my choice). I'm not here to argue semantics. Regardless, it's a major problem that is lowering my overall enjoyment because I'm unable to completely suspend my disbelief.

I think I found a "plot hole" i the movie actually: Tailmon "rebooted" is able to sustain its champion form like she had retained her removed life experiences. This contradicts the reboot concept as it was told to us before.

Though it's highly improbable, I'm still holding my breath for #6 to surprise us all with a good reveal on why the 02 gang is being ignored.

Being the last film, it's all or nothing by now. 02 still had a massive amount of fans despite being somewhat controversial, so Toei must've been aware of what they were doing. Maki having Ken's Digivice must have some explanation, after all.
My name on Steam is Kneekicker. Add a comment on my profile and feel free to add me, though you'll likely be waiting an eternity as I never check my requests.

Do people really care about Davis? seriously?

Zero 02 was alright, despite being a fanfic. Codi and Yoli we're fine.

Ken and BlackWargreymon are probably the best part of the show for my taste.

I know some elements in them we're cut off like the dark ocean or daemon, how did they skip those?

I liked all of the 02 cast..... Except for Davis.
Having TK be the leader of their group would have been better than a wanna-be-Tai-Clone.
I love Tai in these movies.
But I wasn't too thrilled with him in the original series (though he was far from my least fave character of the cast).

Davis was just annoying on SO many levels (I can't remember why I hated him now. Not after all these years. Just that I really hated him and wished he had died several times over throughout watching it. If it weren't for TK, Kari and Ken, I might not have completed watching that part of the series.)

I'd like to see the others.
At least for a little bit. I like continunity (though, after being a Pokémon fan for 20 or so years, I sort of had to learn to deal without it- you can't survive as a Pokémon fan and want continuity all of (or most of) the time)...
So, they should be included, even if its only in the last movie (I'm watching dub, its taking a while to release. But I grew up with dub and have enough sub's to read at the moment so.... Yeah...).
I'm only on the 4th movie though...

Lots of people care about Daisuke/Davis. He was popular to hate but there's also plenty that really liked him. No, he was not just a Taichi clone.

I personally liked all four of the 02 kids. Don't know about behind the scenes, but on screen they had the worst reason for disregarding them. And then including that one asshole masquerading as the Kaiser for fanservice? Meh.

Tri isn't consistent with the 02 ending, anyway. I thought there might be a reason for that when I first started watching the movies, but nope. Though I don't think it was the intention of the people working on it since they did include so much from 02, I'm gonna go ahead and say it's not in the same canon continuity as the original two series.
