This anime is so frustrating to watch! There's beating around the bush and playing footsie and then there's Tsuki ga Kirei! It's like just talk already!
I agree that this episode was painful to watch. Much more painful than the payoff was worth. I really hope the series gets better from here.

It would easier+ more believable if they just right off the bat explained that Azumi has Aspergers.
Does he? I hope so. If these two have genuine diagnosable mental illnesses or disorders, then at least they have a good reason for acting the way they do and I can sympathize. I want to believe that they are not just being stupid.

On another note: I love those 3D models in the background! They are so ugly it's downright hilarious! It reminds me of the last episode of Dusk Maiden of Amnesia, where we spent half the episode looking at the sky or buildings because they had blown their budget on the last couple of episodes. :D

Unpopular opinion but I hated this episode. Relied on bullshit misunderstandings and broke its realism when Akane agrees to date Kotarou after showing signs of being jealous of Chinatsu's relationship with Kotarou and being angry that he was late. Even if she accepts his apology, the best that could happen would be their relationship to stay in the same spot not move forward.

Both our main characters are socially awkward and very shy people, it's not hard to imagine why the pacing is so slow because it's really not easy for them to talk to each other in person, that's why most of their conversations are over text. The show is paced slow to bring out their shy personalities and how they overcome their inherent social awkwardness to slowly grow closer to each other, faster pacing would just ruin all this build up cause it would be totally out of character. If you're not a shy person by nature then I assume it'd be hard to understand why it's taking them so long to even say a few words to each other. Simply put, I feel it's the slow pacing along with social awkwardness of our main couple that make this show a really pure, sweet and heartfelt romance.

I would agree with that for the first 3 episodes. But this episode just takes it to an extreme. Azumi wasn't going to ask Chinatsu for Akane's number and was willing to destroy his relationship with Akane because of nervousness. If Chinatsu wasn't so observant, realistically, this would have been the end of the anime. Also in episode 2, the guy compliments her boldly and in episode 3, asks her out. It's inconsistent.

The MCs are boring. Chinatsu is better and more fun. She would be the MC of a more entertaining show.

I'm trying to get through this show fast.

That's my boy! He doesn't give up so easily!

Well, awful CGI crowds aside, this was another great episode.

Akane didn't give a proper response in the previous episode but some part of me was expecting that to happen. That said, I'm glad to know that she's really interested in Kotarou to the point she wants to know more about him.
But now, I'm curious to know what role Hira and Chinatsu will play in the future. Regarding Chinatsu, she sure was helpful in this episode but I have this feeling she might somehow develop feelings for Kota later on...

P.S.: I might get it wrong but does the teacher like Roman just for how "girly" he looks?...

I don't get why people complain so much about the CGI. Compared to the piece of cardboard in a black suit that walks by in this scene the 3D CGI are gorgeous.

the moment I saw inside of station I knew it is Kyoto station! :D been there only 4 times (2 times in city) and then next shot shows front of Kyoto Station ;d

Nice 3d models of people walking around, but not always, the ones who move head or something are good the static head are bad ;/
This anime got really nice animation! I hope they will show more architecture in this anime!!! the main reason I started watching this ;]

I knew they won't meet at that store because of many entraces :D

I hate it when anime/manga that I enjoyed ends, especially when there could be much longer plot and when I love main heroine :P

I wish I had magic glasses that let me see real world in anime colors ;)

Being an awkward boi is sometimes not good. A lot of things could have been resolved if they just talked but, it is also perfectly understandable. If I was Azumi I wouldn't dare try to talk to her when she is with her friends but, that ending was worth it. A really great episode once again, I am really enjoying this show a lot.

What a sweet little episode. Normally I’d have dropped this because I just cannot handle when the MC is such a pussy. But this feels real, and I feel attached to the characters. I came into this thinking this will just be a decent anime but no waterworks-inducing substance to be found. But now I’m thinking that doesn’t seem so unlikely. Fingers crossed!

This episode felt like it just flew by in 5 minutes, such a simple yet enjoyable episode, even if there is a bit more drama involved than the previous few. Despite Kotarou being late and using Chinatsu's phone to call Akane (which is definitely better than some random stranger's when no one else he knows is there around him), Akane wanting to communicate more with him and be with him made me feel happy on the inside. She knows he's a genuinely nice guy who cares for her, and tried his best even with his phone being confiscated. Glad to see these two socially awkward kids go out together, and I absolutely adore the pacing too. The progression is at a steady rate but given how shy they are around each other, the pacing for their relationship development and communication with each other just feels so natural to me. Could be frustrating for viewers who just care about the cute moments of them being together and not understand the struggles of why the pacing is really slow and dry between them, but luckily I'm really invested in their relationship and the pace its going at.

So cute! But it was quite frustrating to see Kotarou hesitate so much (not that I'm complaining that the anime was bad in portraying or anything, just regular frustration with a person whenever they do that) but it was also so realistic, again like my own experiences lol

I was really afraid that they wouldn't meet in the end. Glad they did! I guess Akane really was jealous of Izumi with that friend of hers whose name I can't remember. Looking forward to seeing them dating!

I loved the "ambiguity brings calamity" fortune. It set up this episode nicely while also giving a subtle hint that things would probably work out in the end. And the moments of quiet ambiance...my GOD did that drag out the tension! This episode played my emotions and expectations like an instrument.

The number of times I put my hand to my face or something similar because of Akana and Kotarou's actions/reactions is impressive.

A very frustrating episode. not in a good way. Piling coincidence upon coincidence, to the point of absurdity. Then pairing it with excessive behavior from the characters, also to the point of absurdity, to the point of traits and flaws turning into caricatures. The result is this episode.

I noted in one of my earlier comments how the humor of this anime feels slightly off, like a sort of tone deafness. Could it be the creator also suffers from some form of autism? That this behavioral issue is not only part of his main characters? If yes, that would explain the slightly disturbing undercurrent in this anime's "funny" situations.

Speaking of the characters. I don't think their behavior should be confused as a case of introversion or shyness. I am an extreme introvert (nice to meet you) and this is not how introverts behave or think. The girl especially has to have some neurological damage, with the guy not being far away from it himself.

I see how the narrative tries to argue that both their environments, parents especially, contributed to their awkwardness, but taken all signs together there is clearly something more going on (neurological damage) than just a tendency of expression (introversion/extroversion).

In this sense, this anime could be described as an on the spectrum rom com, with a really "special" com part. Also in this sense, prepare plenty of patience and eye rolling to endure until the end.
